There are multiple individual factors that might have negatively influenced the behaviour of an injured

contractor.

• Competence
The competence involves four main factors, Knowledge, Ability, Training and Experience.
To be a competent person it is necessary that a person must go through the necessary trainings
and must be well equipped with the hazards knowledge and information before entering into
the industry.
It can be seen in the above scenario none of the above given factor was provided to the
contractor which lead negative influence of the behaviour
• Personality
Personality of a person varies and it’s more of a person’s character, like he might be risk taking
or risk aversion as well.
As per the scenario the contractor was given the hand manuals which involved all safety
instructions which he didn’t read and that lack of precautions lead him to injury.
• Attitude
We normally consider attitude as an individuals point of view or it might be way of looking at
something, it may depend on how a person thinks or feels and reacts
The contractors attitude in this scenario was a bit lazy and non serious towards risk and it’s
hazards. As he was talking to his fellow and wasn’t considering the hazard which could occur in
the dark. Therefore, it had a negative influence on the behaviour of that particular worker.
• Risk Perception
Different people have different risk Perceptions like workplace conditions are different and
everybody has different way to perceive risk. In this case the contractor had not utilized his
ability to identify the hazard and he created a risk and that risk resulted into an accident
• Skills
Every individual develop his/her skill over time. And it comes from experience and certain
efforts in the right direction. Lack of knowledge and experience have less skills production.
In this case the contractor was less skillful therefore couldn’t resist the accident and fell it’s
victim.
• Lack of training and Hazards
Training is the most important part of organisation. It gives you complete knowledge about
safety, health and preacutionary practices. But in this scenario the worker wasn’t Initially
trained and therefore met an accident.
