Learning Plan for Grade 9

Prepared by: Jennelyn G. Malayno

I. Outcomes: At the end of the session, the students must be able to:
A. Solve for the circumference and diameter of a circle.
II. Content:
Subject Matter: Circumference and Diameter
Reference: De Leon, Cecile, 1281 Gregorio, Araneta Avenue, Quezon City Philippines,
JTW Corporation, Geometry III , Page 99.
Time allotment: 15 minutes
III. Instructional Materials: Traditional Materials
IV. Procedures
A. Classroom Routine
 Greetings and Prayer
 Arranging of Chairs
 Checking of Attendance
B. Learning Stage
1) Exploration(Activity)
The teacher will show different round objects, like container, plate, can,
mug, and etc. The teacher will group the class into 2 groups.
The teacher will ask the students to measure the circumference of each
round object by wrapping the measuring tape, around its perimeter. Then
measure the diameter.
Record the circumference(C) and diameter (d) measurements for each
round objects.

Ratio

Plate
Container

2) Firm Up(Analysis)
After the activity the group will compare their answers.
Class what have you observe from the activity?
What do you think is the role of the ratio of circumference and diameter?
What formula can you formulate out of the activity?
How are we going to use that formula?
What do you think is our lesson for today?
3) Deepen(Abstraction)
 Circumference and Diameter of a Circle
 (pi) is defined as the ratio of circumference and diameter, that is
why pi is always attached to any formula that involves circle.
Formulas

 C=𝞹d
C
 d=
π
4) Transfer(Application)
The teacher will give examples and she will call students to answer it on
the board.
Example 1.
If a circle has diameter of 3.0 meters, what is the circumference?
C=𝞹d
C=𝞹 (3.0) C=9.4 meters
Example 2.
If a circle has circumference of 5𝞹 cm, what is the diameter?
C
d=
π

d= d=5cm
π
Example 3.
If a circle has diameter of 6 meters, what is the circumference?
C=𝞹d
C=𝞹 (6) C=18. 85 meters
Example 4.
If a circle has circumference of 10 cm, what is the diameter?
C
d=
π
10
d= d=3.18cm
π
 How did you get the answer in example 1?
 How about the answer in example 2?
 Do you have any questions about the topic class?
V. Assessment
Direction: Write your answer in ½ crosswise of paper. Solve for the
circumference and diameter of a circle.
a. If a circle has diameter of 5cm, what is the circumference?
b. If a circle has circumference of 44cm, what is the diameter?
c. If a circle has diameter of 4cm, what is the circumference?
VI. Assignment
In a ½ crosswise, answer page 135 numbers 2,3,5,7 and 8 in your Geometry book.
