The Study of Mayo (2016) Philippines

Description of the Output:

According to the research of Mayo (2016), the researcher developed a website

for the University of the Philippines -- Manila library where the students and teachers
were able to track easily the specific reading material they need using the library
information system.

Problem:

The problem in this methodology stated by the researcher is that by using the
library information system, borrowers are required to log in and log out using their own
account, means that users are required to make their own account in the computer
library before they are able to borrow their desired books. Moreover, having an account
in the library isn’t a necessity and make it as an alternative for the log in and out in the
library logs.

In San Felipe Neri Catholic School, its library doesn’t have an enough computer
for each students to log in and out, that’s why the computers purpose is only for
researches and such.

Method:

According to the study of Mayo (2016) verbatimly stated that the method of
Public High School Online Library System PHOLS was to design a library information
system in the public schools that will serve as the computerized book catalog in the
library. By creating such a system website, the researcher used the programming
language which is the Hypertext Markup Language or HTML. HTML is basic a language
in programming which is a text-based to describe the content contained within the
website, this markup tells the and describes how to display the text, images, and other
forms of multimedia in a website. The researcher also stated that PHP was used in the
study, PHP or Hypertext Preprocessor is an HTML embedded web scripting language,
which means that PHP code can be inserted into the codes of HTML of a web page.

Besides from HTML and PHP, Jquery was also used in the output of the study.
Jquery is a JavaScript library that allows web developers to add extra functions in the
web page, while JavaScript is a programming language that can be connected in HTML,
it is well known for scripting languages for web pages. Lastly, the Cascading Style
Sheet or also known as CSS, it is usually used for the format and design of the
webpage. CSS is also connected in HTML which it can follow the command coded in
the HTML.

The researcher made a Public High School Online Library System or PHOLS so
that it serves as an assistance in borrowing and returning process of reading materials
that will also serve as an online book catalog in the library.

Results:

The result for this methodology of Mayo (2016), it showed that having a Public
High School Online Library System PHOLS over the school libraries can lessen the
work and hassle inside the facility. It will maintain the library well organized by letting the
borrowers lend the borrowed books using the Library information system. Ang also,
students can have their own personal accounts exclusively in the library that can help
them find their desired reading materials they need.
