Music6 Q3 Week7 - 8 LAS2
Form is the overall structure and organization of music. It refers to the manner in which
musical ideas are put together.
In singing a certain song, one should always be mindful of the repeat marks. These marks
or symbols indicates to where and when to repeat and/stop singing.
These are the repeat marks that we should always remember: “Da Capo” – repeat the
song from the beginning. “Al Fine” – sing the song until the end. Another term for fine is the
word “coda” or the sign. “D.C. Al Fine” – repeat the song from the beginning until you reach
the word fine or coda, which means stop. “Dal Segno (D.S.)” (dahl senyo) - repeat only
from the word that has this sign until you reach another repeat mark that would indicate what to
do next. – this symbol means you should repeat all the lines inside this repeat mark.
“Fine” – this mark represents the ending of the song. Another term for this mark is “Coda”.
– the bars above the musical form are called “volta brackets” which indicates 1st and 2nd
ending. The bracket with #1 is called ending 1 while the other is called ending 2.
