UNIT 2 GROUP THEORY II 10 Hrs

Cauchy theorem for abelian group – Sylow’s theorem for abelian group - Group of Inner automorphisms – Cayley’s theorem -
Sylow theorems

UNIT 3 RING THEORY 10 Hrs

Homomorphism of rings - Ideals and quotient rings - Field of quotients of an integral domain - Euclidean rings.

UNIT 4 VECTOR SPACES 10 Hrs

Basic concepts - linear independence and bases – Inner product spaces – Characteristic roots and matrices of a linear
transformation

UNIT 5 FIELDS 10 Hrs


Fields - Finite Field - Roots of polynomials - Splitting field - Field Extension - Galois theory
