Smarter Decision Making through Psychology August 4, 2020 Question 1: As a result of this class, how will you immediately apply your problem-solving skill at home or work? Write a paragraph with two examples of how you can immediately apply your problem-solving skills at home or work. In the workplace, I would use my problem-solving abilities while dealing with difficult employees. I would be more conscious of my environment and more aware of the worker as an individual. I would try to assist the employee with a challenging task to motivate them rather than have to punish the individual on a regular basis. The culture of the store will deteriorate if the manager doesn't have a good working relationship with the workforce because they will want to respond. As well, I will provide a flexible work environment. Creating a welcoming workplace will enable team members to thrive, reducing stress at work. Workplace flexibility may help to ensure that workers are happier and can perform their responsibilities without stress. A supportive workplace encourages collaboration among employees, which boosts organizational efficiency (Saidi et al., 2019). I'm incredibly appreciative that I've acquired the knowledge and abilities I do, and I intend to use them in both my personal and professional life Question 2: As a result of this class, how have you grown in terms of your own self and social awareness skills? Write a paragraph with two examples of how you have grown in your own self and social awareness. I have made enormous progress as a person. I try to learn from every situation rather than take offense, and I become more conscious of other people and how they think. When we were all at a conference, I used to get quite agitated about how people think, but now that I'm studying these new concepts, I can comprehend social interactions better. I used to feel quite uncomfortable at social gatherings, and I would avoid going because of my social anxiety. After reading the courses, I feel a little more optimistic about interacting with people. Question 3: Of all of the Strayer videos, which one was most relevant for you? Why? Write a paragraph that clearly identifies one of the videos and why it was relevant to your life. Remember to use the Strayer Writing Standards to provide a citation and source for the Strayer Story video that you write about. The most significant video for me was the woman who founded her own hair care line business for people with naturally curly hair. I have always wanted to start my own company in the cosmetic industry. It has been on my thoughts for about two years now. Because I have curly hair and had previously used her product and liked it, it really caught my interest. The visit with the designer went extremely well with my hair, and I learned a lot about the process. It was by far my favorite week in this session, which I absolutely adored. PSY101 REFLECTION JOURNAL – 2 WEEK 11 Question 4: What is one psychological concept that you have learned in this class that was most helpful to you? How will you use this concept to succeed in your personal or professional life? Remember to use the Strayer Writing Standards to provide a citation and source as you write a about the concept that you learned. Thinking about the emotional environment was the psychological theory that I found to be most helpful. I realized I was getting through life by adopting this approach. I still seem to be acting in that manner. I discovered that I had a set attitude and that by immersing myself in the thought process, I could try out fresh ideas. At work, the laws are constantly changing, and I used to fight against them and whine about how everything that had previously worked had changed. I also used to wonder why, after working so hard to perfect something in one method, I opposed learning how to do it in another way (Luo & Hancock, 2020). I made an attempt to comprehend myself and learn new things throughout the learning cycle after discovering that I had a predetermined perspective. The laws governing the workplace are continuously changing, and I used to oppose them and moan about how everything was changing that had previously worked for so long and that I had learned for so long that I had stopped comprehending and was now being done differently. I want to keep working on being more positive and open-minded in my personal life rather than rigid and predetermined. PSY101 REFLECTION JOURNAL – 3 WEEK 11 Sources Luo, M., & Hancock, J. T. (2020).
