THIRD, explain the following: 1, What is a prayer meeting? A prayer meeting is a gathering of Christians or believers in the Lord Jesus in order to praise and thank the Lord in songs, spontaneous prayers, testimonies, etc. 2. Why do we praise and thank the Lord? a) Because it is our duty as creatures to acknowledge our creator just as it is the duty of children to acknowledge their parents, b) Because as Christians, we are people God has made His own to praise His glory. (Eph. 1: 11-12, 14) c) Because the praise of Christians is the dwelling place or throne of God. (Ps. 22: 4) Since praise is the throne of God, whenever Christians praise the Lord, He is there with them. That is why praising the Lord is always for our own good. d) Because praise is the key that unlocks the power of God in our lives. The Old and the New Testament testify to this: *Joshua 6: 15-20 It is narrated here that the Israelites went around the city of Jericho seven times in procession together with the Ark of the Covenant, singing and praising the Lord for seven days and the walls of Jericho collapsed. 118
