PRESSURE

Pressure is defined as the force acting per unit area.

P=F/A
The SI unit of pressure is the pascal (Pa) and is also known as the Newton per square metre.

Pressure in liquids

The pressure in liquids increases at a greater depth.

p=hpG

Where h=height, p=density and g=gravitational field strength

The differences in pressure exerted on an object underwater

results in an upward force known as buoyancy

Liquids are used to transmit pressure in hydraulic machines since

pressure is transmitted equally to other parts of the liquid. This is known as
Pascal's principle.

The hydraulic press is a type of hydraulic machine.

Px=Fx/Ax , Px=Py , Py=Fy/Ay , Fx X dx=Fy X Dy

Atmospheric pressure

Although we cannot see or feel air molecules, they take up space and have weight. This atmosphere
exerts a pressure on us and the world. This pressure is known as atmospheric pressure.

Atmospheric pressure is 1.013 × 10^5 Pa
