Content: - Video Viewing

Time: 50’

Aims:
 General aims:
 to enrich Ss’ vocabulary using modern technology;
 to develop vocabulary through various lexical structures;
 to develop Ss' communicative competence by using proper vocabulary and lexical
structures;
 to reinforce Ss’ confidence in their ability to use the English language;
 to encourage Ss to come up with their own arguments and examples;

 Specific aims:
 to prepare students for the video;
 to engage their background knowledge about the topic;
 to create interest in what they will watch;
 to watch the video for gist comprehension;
 to watch and listen closely for detail;
 to recycle target vocabulary and test Ss' understanding of the video;
 to revise the main points of the video paying attention to the sequence of events;
 to complete the summary of the video with the missing words;
 to decide whether the missing words are nouns, verbs, adjectives or adverbs;
 to reinforce learning phrasal verbs;
 to complete the sentences with the correct particle;
 to match the phrasal verbs to their definitions or synonyms.

Assumptions: If the students find difficulties in completing the previewing, while-viewing


and post-viewing activities, the teacher may pause, rewind or fast-forward the video to help
students focus on key segments or events.

For further activities / classes, the following could be taken into account:

 Discussion about documentary films. Working in pairs, the students could take turns
in asking and answering the following questions - If you could make a documentary
film what subject would you choose? Why? - Ask some pair to answer the questions
for the class.
 Discussion about important films in history. Lead a class discussion about what
they think has been the most important film in history, starting from a list given.
