Upgrading Procedure
Follow these steps to upgrade the software: 1. Download the most recent NEO upgrade package for your module (for example, TSG-3901 or XHD-3902) from our website. 2. Set your CCS Pilot or Navigator software to the Build mode (CoPilot only functions in Build mode). 3. If the affected module has not been discovered, perform the Discovery operation, as described in your CCS software application manual or online help, and then save the results. 4. From the Tools menu, select Software Upgrade. The Software Upgrade window opens or is brought to the foreground (see Figure 2-2 on page 26).
25
Chapter 2: Installation
Click here to access these options: entering Telnet entering FTP user name and password creating automatic backups. Package Info includes a list of the components contained in the zip file (zip file must appear in the field first).
Figure 2-2. Software Upgrade Tools New Transfer Tab 5. On the New Transfer tab, click Add. The Device Selection dialog opens. 6. Select one or more devices, and then click OK to close the Add Device dialog box. Here is some additional information: You can only add one unit from each IP address. Since all items in a frame have the same IP address, you cannot upgrade multiple modules in the same frame at the same time. The selected devices appear in the table on the New Transfer tab of the Software Upgrade window. This table lists devices that are to receive the same upgrade package. You can highlight the position of each device in the Navigation pane by clicking Find Device. Check the modules current software version by clicking Version Info.
26
Chapter 2: Installation
To create an automatic backup of the old version of the software, click the Device Options... button. Then, in the new window, place a check beside Automatic Backup and enter a file name, or click Browse to choose a new file location for the backup. Click OK.
7. In the Software Upgrade window, press Browse... to select the software upgrade package (ZIP file) that you want to upload to the NEO module. A standard Windows File Selection dialog box opens. 8. Choose the upgrade ZIP file on a local or network drive, and then click Open. The selected files path name is displayed beside the Browse button. 9. Click Submit Transfer... A dialog box opens, requesting confirmation that you want to proceed with the request. If you have multiple devices selected, multiple transfer tasks are submittedone per device. The extraction process on the ZIP file is handled as part of the upgrade process. You do not need to extract the files yourself. Although the file name disappears from the screen, the transfer is now underway. You may close the Software Upgrade window, continue with other tasks, or switch to the Progress tab to view the status of the transfers. Depending on the complexity of the NEO module, the transfer may take several moments. NOTE
Closing the Software Upgrade window does not affect any of the transfer processes that may be running in the background. If you try to log off or exit the CCS software while a transfer is underway, a notification window will alert you that processes are still active and will ask if you want to terminate these processes.
10. Click on the Log tab and look at the Transfer Status column to ensure that all files have correctly updated. The module is automatically rebooted after the upgrade procedure. 11. To confirm the correct software version was installed, right click the module in the Navigation pane, select Configuration, then Version, and then Software.

Audio Configuration
All XHD-3902 modules process embedded audio. The input embedded audio is demultiplexed (de-embedded) and synchronized to the video, delayed to match the video processing delay, processed, and then remultiplexed (re-embedded) into HD- and SD-SDI video output. Up to two groups of audio can be embedded into the video stream. NOTE
Throughout this manual, all mentions of AES audio functionality refer to the -BC versions of the XHD-3902 modules.
The -BC versions of the XHD-3902 can process both embedded audio and discrete AES audio. Unlike embedded audio, discrete AES audio flows independently from the video stream. This audio is synchronized to the video, delayed to match the video processing delay, processed, and then multiplexed into HD- and SD-SDI output. The audio can also be output as a discrete AES signal.
Audio Controls
XHD-3902 modules can route audio from one of several sources to the outgoing SDI (up to 4 channel pairs can be embedded) and/or AES outputs (1 channel pair each). NOTE
All audio operations are based on channel pairs, not individual audio signals.
The base XHD-3902 modules support only embedded audio. These modules are capable of demultiplexing up to two groups of embedded audio from each of the two incoming video SDI streams, and embedding up to two groups into the output SDI stream. The discrete -BC versions additionally provide two AES inputs (each balanced or coax) and two AES outputs (each balanced or coax). Both versions of the XHD-3902 modules can select up to four channel pairs of audio for synchronization and processing. On the input side, the following read-only parameters indicate which groups and channel pairs have audio present in the primary or secondary video inputs:
32
Primary Audio Groups Present (page 116) Secondary Audio Groups Present (page 117) Primary Audio Channel Pairs Feedback (page 116) Secondary Audio Channel Pairs Feedback (page 117)
For AES input, use AES1 In Source Select and AES2 In Source Select (page 119) to indicate whether each of the AES inputs is balanced or unbalanced (coax). The AES1 Present or AES2 Present parameters (page 117) will then indicate whether audio is detected on the corresponding AES input.
33
Audio Routing
For audio routing, four channel pairs can be mapped to the outgoing video and on the -BC versions, any two of these four-channel pairs can also be output on two AES outputs. There are two ways of routing the audio to the outputs: predefined or custom. Predefined To provide predefined routing configurations for ease of use, set the Embedder 1 Source or Embedder 2 Source parameters (page 121) to the following options: Demultiplexer 1, Groups 1 and 2 Demultiplexer 1, Groups 3 and 4 Demultiplexer 2, Groups 1 and 2 Demultiplexer 2, Groups 3 and 4 AES Tone
For example, Demultiplexer 1, Groups 1 and 2 indicates that these four primary video channel pairs will be mapped to the four channel pairs on the outgoing video: Group 1 channel pair 1 Group 1 channel pair 2 Group 2 channel pair 1 Group 2 channel pair 2
Likewise, Demultiplexer 2, Groups 1 and 2 and Demultiplexer 2, Groups 3 and 4 are demuxers for the secondary video. Custom To manually configure the audio routing, set Embedder 1 Source or Embedder 2 Source to Custom (page 121). To select which audio will be routed whenever primary video is active, use the Embedder 1 Pair 1 Source, Embedder 1 Pair 2 Source, Embedder 1 Pair 3 Source, and Embedder 1 Pair 4 Source parameters (page 122).
34
To select which audio should be routed whenever secondary video is active, use the Embedder 2 Pair 1 Source, Embedder 2 Pair 2 Source, Embedder 2 Pair 3 Source, and Embedder 2 Pair 4 Source parameters (page 123). In addition to selecting audio sources from the primary and/or secondary video, four tone generators are available, as well as Mute. The audio routing assigns four embedded channel pair sources to the primary video (Embedder 1) and four to the secondary video (Embedder 2). Depending on which video input is active, the corresponding routing configuration (Embedder 1 vs. Embedder 2) dictates which input audio channel pairs get selected for synchronization and processing by the audio subsystem. Further parameters are used to determine how the processed audio gets routed for embedding and AES output, as follows: Channel Pairs 1 and 2 Output Group and Channel Pairs 3 and 4 Output Group (page 123) control into which the SDI audio groups processed audio pairs P1/P2 and P3/P4, respectively, are embedded. AES 1 Output Source and AES 2 Output Source (page 127) control what is routed to AES outputs 1 and 2. For each AES output you can select processed audio pair P1, P2, P3, or P4, or one of the four tone generators, or Mute.
The channel pair could contain non-PCM audio data (in other words, it is indicated by bit 1 of channel status bits being set for Non-Audio instead of Audio as shown on page 188). In this case, the sample rate converter must be bypassed to ensure audio integrity. The master bypass controls (Embedder 1 Master Bypass and Embedder 2 Master Bypass on page 131) provide three options: If the master bypass is On, all four channel pairs will bypass the sample rate converter. If the master bypass is Off, you must individually indicate which channel pairs to bypass using Embedder 1 Pair 1 Bypass to Embedder 2 Pair 4 Bypass (page 131). If the master bypass is set to Auto, the channel pairs will be monitored, and if non-PCM audio data is detected, the sample rate converter for that channel pair will be bypassed. Embedder 1 Bypass Feedback and Embedder 2 Bypass Feedback (page 131) indicate which channel pairs are bypassed.
In addition to the mute controls that control audio pairs individually, a Master Mute control page 131) mutes all of the audio channel pairs. Also, if the audio source for a given processed audio pair does not have any incoming audio, the processed audio pair will be automatically muted. Embedder 1 Mute Feedback and Embedder 2 Mute Feedback (page 132) indicate which channel pair sources are muted.
36
Audio Feedback
The read-only parameters Primary Audio Groups Present (page 116) and Secondary Audio Groups Present (page 117) indicate which groups are present in the primary or secondary video input. There are four positions in the feedback display representing (from left to right) Groups 1 through 4 (see Figure 3-1). The = indicates no audio is detected for a particular group. If audio is detected, a 1, 2, 3, or 4 is displayed to indicate the presence of audio for the corresponding group. For example, = 2 = = indicates that the module detects audio in Group 2.

Figure 3-1. PriAudPres and SecAudPres Feedback Display The read-only parameters Primary Audio Channel Pairs Feedback (page 116) and Secondary Audio Channel Pairs Feedback (page 117) indicate which channel pairs are present in the primary or secondary video input. In addition, the parameters indicate whether the channel pair detected is PCM audio or non-PCM audio. There are eight positions in the feedback display representing (from left to right) Channel Pair 1 in Group 1 through Channel Pair 2 in Group 4 (see Figure 3-2 on page 38). The = indicates no audio is detected for a particular channel pair. The letter a indicates the presence of PCM audio, and the d indicates non-PCM audio was detected.

For example, the active picture region for 525 standard starts on line 21 and ends at line 262. Therefore, an overscan setting of one line implies that upconversion starts at line 22 and ends at line 261. In addition to the two discarded lines, the first and last pixel of each remaining line in the active picture region are discarded. The overscan mode prevents data embedded in the active picture region (usually line 21), such as closed captioning, from being converted. To enable the overscan mode, scroll to the ARC Overscan parameter (page 129) and then select the number of rows and columns for cropping. Using the overscan control you can also discard picture ramp-up and ramp-down regions commonly present in material digitized from analog video sources. If you are using an XHD-3902 with a downstream keyer, and the keyed image appears with a dark border around it, the border is caused by this shaping of the incoming video frame. Use the ARC Overscan parameter to minimize this border effect.

52
Figures 3-14 to 3-17 on page 58 to page 61 show how the automatic ARC control will act when given an AFD, VI, or WSS code input.
If you select User instead of Auto in the AFD Embedding Enable, VI Embedding Enable, and WSS Embedding Enable parameters, you can change the output code by selecting a different option in AFD Embedder Select, VI Embedder Select, or WSS Embedder Select. These parameters are also located in the Output > Embedding path (starting on page 125).
53
Additionally, if you are using VI according to the SMPTE Proposed RP-186+ standard as of January 11, 2007, you must ensure you have enabled the standard by following this path: Output > Embedding > VI Embedder AFD Enable on page 125 (default setting is Yes). In the event that the current ARC is controlled by AFD, VI, or WSS, and this data disappears from the input signal, the XHD-3902 provides you with two options: Keep the current aspect ratio as set by the last AFD, VI, or WSS data. Reset to the aspect ratio settings that were in use before the AFD, VI, or WSS data took control.
The Aspect Ratio Conversion Reset Auto parameter (page 131) controls this feature. Select Yes to have the module reset to older values in the event of a loss of data; select No (the default) to retain the current ARC settings in the event of a loss of data. At this time, Bar Data and Pan-Scan for VI and AFD are not supported.

AFD Descriptions
In the following pages, Figures 3-12 to 3-17 show the different AFD code descriptions. Comparable WSS and VI templates are included in the SD-SDI descriptions.
Gray regions indicate areas of the picture that may be cropped by the receiver without significant loss to the viewer.
Black regions indicate areas of the picture that do not contain useful information and should be cropped by the receiver where appropriate.
The smallest rectangle enclosing the white regions indicates the area of essential picture information.

To set up the internal wings feature, follow these steps: 1. Set the Primary Video Standard Set parameter (Input > Other > Primary Video Standard Set on page 118) to the SD-SDI standard of your primary input video, or leave the parameter in the default Auto position). This video becomes the center portion of the program output. 2. Set your aspect ratio settings as required, using CCS software, or by following this card-edge path: Output > Processing > Aspect Conversion starting on page 129). 3. Set the output video standard (Output > Other > Output Video Standard Set on page page 126). 4. Select the source for the wings either as background color (Output > Other > Background Color on page 126), or from another video input with the same standard as the output video standard (Output > Other > Background Color > Secondary Input). If the secondary input video and the output video do not share the same standard, an Incompatible Video Standard major alarm will be activated. If this occurs, the module automatically generates a black background, replacing the secondary input until a valid signal is received.
62
If the secondary input signal does not exist, the module creates a black, green, or still image background, according to the setting you have made in the Secondary Loss of Video Mode parameter (Output > Routing > Secondary Loss of Video Mode on page 127). For more information on video timing with a secondary SDI input signal, see Output Switch Mode on page 82.

Cue Embedding Cue Embedding Mode Cue Fields 1 and 2 Line Position
XHD-3902 modules are designed to detect errors in the Teletext and Cue data inputs as they occur. By default, minor alarms will be activated when the following errors are detected: Teletext parity error Teletext frame error Cue data parity error
These errors will also appear as the read-only parameters Teletext Input Parity Error, Teletext Input Frame Error, and Cue Data Input Parity Error (page 118). In addition, the card-edge User 3 LED will turn red when a Teletext parity error is detected, and the User 4 LED will turn red when a Cue data parity error is detected. The LEDs will remain lit during the duration of the parity errors. When the input signal becomes error-free, the LEDs and the alarms turn off after approximately two seconds. The DVB Teletext feature is available when you purchase the XHD3902-OPT-DVB option; it operates with any -U, -C, -D, -A, -UCD, -M, or -KF combination. See page 22 for information about software license key options.
65
66
Recover Mode Settings When you set the Recovery Mode parameter to Off (page 127), the XHD-3902 modules will not switch back to the original port when the input port recovers from a failure. In case of primary input failure the XHD-3902 module will switch over to secondary input if it is available, or directly to the still image if it is not. If the secondary input fails while being active, the XHD-3902 module will switch to still image. When the Recovery Mode parameter is Off, you must recover manually by switching the ports using the Input Select parameter (page 127). If the Recovery Mode parameter is set to First Available, upon the failure of primary or secondary input, the XHD-3902 modules will automatically switch to the input that is still available. The modules input will remain there until either this input fails, or you manually change the input using the Input Select parameter. When both primary and secondary inputs fail, the XHD-3902 modules will switch to the still image. In this state, the XHD-3902 modules will automatically recover to the first input to become available, but will not switch further when next input also becomes available. If you set the Recovery Mode parameter to Return to Primary, the XHD-3902 modules will, upon failure of primary input, switch over to the secondary input. If the secondary input also fails, the module will further switch over to the still image. In this setting, the XHD-3902 modules will always automatically recover to the first input available, but they will also further recover to the primary input whenever it becomes available. This will occur regardless of whether the secondary input is available, and whether the modules switches from secondary input or still image. Finally, if you set the Recovery Mode parameter to Return to Secondary, the modules will, upon failure of the secondary input, switch over to primary input, and upon failure of primary input further switch over to the still image. In this setting, XHD-3902 modules always automatically recover to the first input available, but they will also further recover to secondary input whenever it becomes available. This occurs regardless of whether the primary input is available, and whether the XHD-3902 module switches from primary input or still image.
67
Powering Up a Module
When you first power up an XHD-3902, the default settings of the Recovery Mode, Protect Mode, and Input Select parameters on page 127 lead to an output of color bars. This is a normal function of the module. To view a converted signal instead of default color bars, follow these steps: 1. Set the type of conversion you need by selecting one of the -U, -C, -D, or -A options in the x3902 Mode parameter (page 120). 2. Set the output signal standard in Output Video Standard Set (page 126). 3. Connect the input video signal to the primary input (SDI 1 In Primary connection on the back module). 4. Set the Recovery Mode parameter to Return Primary (page 127). 5. In the Input Select parameter, select Primary Input (page 127).

GPI
The XHD-3902 modules provide seven General Purpose Interfaces (GPIs) for automation. These are open collector style inputs with approximately 10 K pull-ups to +5V. This means that you can use contact closure-to-ground switches to control these GPI inputs. See Figure 3-19 for a typical configuration.
72
The GPI events that occur in this example are determined by the GPI Event 1 parameter, and can be set to perform one of the following: Change the aspect ratio parameter (ARC Preset on page 129) to one of the predefined standard aspect ratios Change the aspect ratio parameter (ARC Preset) to one of the stored custom aspect ratio presets Change the input select parameter (Input Select on page 127) to Primary Input, Secondary Input or Still Image
All GPI events occur in the order they are triggered and will override older events. For example, if the three GPI events are set up as follows, the resulting ARC Preset parameter will appear as shown in Figure 3-20. GPI Trigger 1 = Rising Edge, GPI Event1 = 16:9 Anamorphic GPI Trigger 2 = Falling Edge, GPI Event2 = Preset 3 GPI Trigger 3 = Rising Edge, GPI Event3 = Pixel True ARC Preset = 4:3

Chapter 4: Operation
When your XHD-3902 module is purchased with a single function capability, the modules current mode (for example, XHD-3902-U) displays in the read-only x3902 Mode Feedback parameter (page 120). To enable full up, down, or crossconversion capability in one module, you must purchase a multipurpose license key. If you purchased a multipurpose (UCD) conversion module (rather than upgrading a single purpose module later), all three modes are available, one at a time. The mode that is operational in a multipurpose conversion module is always the function that you have selected in the x3902 Mode parameter (page 120). Similarly, if you have installed an upgrading license key (see page 22 for details), you will need to select your conversion mode in the x3902 Mode parameter. (Although the x3902 Mode lists all of the possible conversion modes, only the licensed modes will function.)

Chapter 4: Operation
Operation Notes
CAUTION
Failure to observe these Operation Notes will result in accidental changes to the modules parameter settings.
When using the XHD-3902 modules, observe the following operation notes: If you change parameters within 16 seconds after the XHD-3902 banner first appears on the VFD, your changes will not be saved. Parameter changes that you make after this 16-second delay will be saved if the module loses power. You must restart the module to restore these saved settings. Although the effect of a parameter change may appear to be immediate, the module requires 20 seconds to save the latest change. If another change is made during these 20 seconds, the first parameter change and the second parameter change will not be saved until 20 seconds after the second parameter change. There is no limit to the number of changes that can be made within 20 seconds of each other. However, none of these changes will be saved until 20 seconds after the last parameter change. When you set the Factory Recall parameter to Yes (page 120), the module takes several seconds to reset all of the parameters. Factory Recall immediately reverts to No after the reset is complete. Setup parameters are not affected by this factory recall mode. The Operator and All List Parameters on page 155 and Tree View Parameter List on page 105 indicate the parameter default settings that are restored when you set Factory Recall to Yes. When you activate Factory Recall, the x3902 Mode parameter (page 120) will reset to the first available (that is, licensed) mode. If no valid license key is entered, x3902 Mode is forced to None. XHD-3902 modules have four SDI outputs. Two of the inputs always carry program output, and two can be configured to carry either the same output signal, or an output key signal for downstream keying. Depending on the configuration and availability of the input signals, the output video timing can be

derived from input video, timing reference input, or it can be free-running within the tolerance allowed by the applicable standards. Changes in some parameters will cause additional changes in other parameters, or lock them out entirely. See Cross-Functional Parameter Changes on page 77 for more information. Ensure that you connect to a video input and set the conversion mode before turning on the modules power (see page 68).
79
Chapter 4: Operation
When the Reference Input option is selected, the frame synchronizer automatically detects and locks to the genlock reference signal for video timing alignment. The frame synchronizer either drops or repeats video frames to achieve synchronization.
Line Synchronizer Considerations The secondary SDI input signal fed into the line synchronizer requires special considerations based on the following: The line sync buffer can store up to a maximum of three lines of SDI video, and the XHD-3902 converter cannot compensate for a larger drift in the video signal with respect to the reference. Therefore, in this instance, the secondary SDI input must be genlocked upstream using external equipment. The secondary SDI input incurs a different amount of delay through the modules processing path than the primary SDI input signal. If the application requires that video sources SDI-1 and SDI-2 be switched back and forth, external equipment must be used upstream to delay the secondary input signal to match the delay on the primary path. XHD-3902 modules are capable of switching between SDI-1 and SDI-2, either at the input or output side of the converter. Depending on where the switch occurs, the following conditions apply: The secondary SDI input signal must match either the primary SDI input or the SDI output. A different amount of delay must be set to the secondary SDI input to compensate for the primary SDI processing delay.
80
Chapter 4: Operation
Video Timing
Input Switch Mode The video timing of the line sync output regenerates and slaves to the reference signal. Any timing misalignment between the input signal and the reference signal that is larger than the three-line capacity of the line sync buffer will cause a distortion in the displayed picture. The conversion module reports this event as a Secondary Sync (Out-of) Range alarm. You can enable this alarm in the Setup menu (page 135). The read-only Secondary Sync Range Line parameter (page 119) displays the number of lines required to advance or delay the secondary SDI input signal to keep it within the three-line buffer for normal operation. For optimal alignment of the secondary input signal (when required), this parameter should read 2. This will place the marker in the middle of the three-line buffer, therefore allowing for a timing variation of the secondary input signal of +/- one linewith respect to the main referencewithout impacting the output. Figure 4-1 represents video timing synchronization between SDI-1 and SDI-2 before conversion.

Chapter 4: Operation
In the input switch mode, the two SDI signals must have the same delay as they simultaneously pass through the upconverter. In order to maintain synchronization, the secondary SDI input signal fed into the line sync must be delayed upstream by the amount of the user-selectable frame delay set on the primary SDI input signal (D1 in Figure 4-1 on page 81 represents the delay through the frame sync path). Use the read-only Secondary Sync Range Line (page 119) as a guide to delay or advance the secondary input signal the required number of lines to compensate for the line sync, and then add the number of frames from the Input Frame Delay control (page 113). The output timing controls, Horizontal Phase and Vertical Phase (page 121) are applied to the output of the upconverter so that the HD-SDI signal is in phase with the reference signal. Additionally, the SD-frame delay adds a set number of full frames to the primary input signal through the Input Frame Delay control. Internally, the converter slightly advances the H/V phasing applied to the frame sync and to the line sync in order to compensate for any internal delays, and to precisely align the two video signals feeding the switcher. The H/V phasing ensures the switch between the video signals is free of any video timing errors. Output Switch Mode In output switch mode, the secondary SDI input signal must have the same format and timing as the converted primary output signal. To achieve a clean switch in the output mode between SDI-1 and SDI-2 after SDI-1 conversion, the secondary input signal fed into the line sync must be delayed to match the primary input signal through the converter (see Figure 4-2 on page 83). In this case, the frame sync delay (D1) plus the converter delay (D2) equals the system delay (D3) of the primary signal. The system delay represents the delay through the frame sync path plus the delay through the converter. When making this adjustment, note that the overall delay changes with the type of conversion performed. For example, there are different amounts of delay between 525-720p and 525-1080i. Therefore, the system delay differs from conversion to conversion. The total amount of frame delay is indicated in System Delay (page 121). In order to achieve synchronization and clean switching between the two video signals, use the Secondary Sync Range Line control (page 119) to adjust the secondary SDI input signal the required number of lines.

Figure 4-2. XHD-3902 Video Timing (Output Switch Mode) Additional Considerations The line sync is slaved to the reference signal, causing varied delays between the line sync input and output signals when the reference timing is changed. Examples of this are as follows: Changing from Reference Input to the Delay option in the Genlock Source parameter (page 115) Changing the timing of the signal applied to the Reference Input when in sync mode Switching between Free Run, Reference Input, and Delay
The overall propagation delay through the XHD-3902 may change when switching between SDI-1 and SDI-2 while in sync mode. The frame sync buffer is elastic, and may cause as much as a one-frame fluctuation over a long period of time when operating in this mode.
83
Chapter 4: Operation
Sync Switching
When receiving the same video format signals on both the Primary and Secondary inputs, the Synchronization Switch parameter (page 119) determines where an input switch would occur. If the two same video format signals are synchronized to each other, the Synchronization Switch should be set to On. The input switch would occur as shown in Figure 4-1 on page 81 after the frame sync and before the converter, in order to provide a clean switch. If the two same video format signals are not synchronized to each other, Synchronization Switching should be set to Off. In this case, the two same video format signals will be switched before the frame sync and the frame sync output will be passed onto the converter. Because the switch occurs before the frame sync, the switch will likely incur momentary freeze-frame, and thus will not be as clean. However, this prevents the output signal from being offset because the line sync buffer is not large enough to hold the entire frame.
Switching inputs with Synchronization Switch in the Off position is slower than using the parameter in the On position, and does not guarantee a fully clean switch. For protected mode operation (using the Protected Mode parameter on page 127), it is recommended that you synchronize the secondary video input before it enters the XHD-3902, and then set the Synchronization Switch parameter to On. When the Synchronization Switch is Off, the primary loss of video behavior setting (controlled with the Primary Loss of Video Mode parameter on page 126) will be used upon loss of secondary video. By default, an Auto setting in the Synchronization Switching parameter (page 119) allows the XHD-3902 module to determine where best to handle the input switch, based on the incoming video signals.

Chapter 4: Operation
The user delay is always applied in addition to the audio synchronization and will cause an audio glitch to occur when the user delay changes.
Quiet Switching
The XHD-3902 modules provide quiet switching of audio when changing between input sources in the Input Select parameter (page 127), where the options are Primary Input, Secondary Input, and Still Image). The quiet switch will perform the following tasks: Fade all audio output to mute Switch audio routing to Primary Input, Secondary Input, or Still Image Delay for an amount equal to sum of frame sync delay, converter delay, and user delay Fade all audio output back to normal
The delay before restoring the audio accounts for any residual audio from the previous audio source that may be filtering through the system because of the combined delay path.

7. If the parameter is selectable, slide the bar to the desired parameter using the Nav+/Nav-switch. OR Select the desired item in the Level Four list, and then press Enter. NOTE
If you do not wish to make changes to your settings, return to the previously selected item in the list, and then press Escape to move up a level. See Selectable Parameter Adjust Mode on page 135) to enable or disable this delayed adjust mode feature.
Once the Level Four parameter is set or viewed, you can leave the parameter in its current state, or return to the banner. To return to the XHD-3902 banner, repeatedly press the Escape button. Close the front panel again after you have completed the procedure to prevent the frame from overheating.

Setup Parameters
You can modify the Setup parameters to configure the card-edge controls for your personal needs. The Setup section appears at the end of all three navigation lists. It consists of these items: Alarms Navigation modes Selectable parameter adjustment modes Browse modes Scroll modes Display intensity Parameter descriptions Name Frame IP Sync Full About
NOTE
Setup parameters on a local or remote control panel may be different from the card-edge parameters described here.
The structure of the Setup menu is located in the Tree View, starting on page 135. See your NEO FR-3901, FR-3903, and FR-3923 Mounting Frames Installation and Operation Manual for more information on Setup items, including descriptions and operation notes.

Chapter 4: Operation
Alarms
XHD-3902 modules provide a default list of nine alarms. You can disable any alarm by modifying the Alarms parameter in the Setup section (page 135). (CCS-enabled software and hardware provide a separate Alarms section. See you products manual or online help for details.) When you select Alarms at the card-edge, all of the active alarms are visible in the display, below Configurations. If no alarms are active, only Configuration appears.
Alarm Synchronization
Alarm synchronization is available for an XHD-3902 module if the NEO frame contains a 3901RES-E resource module that supports the feature. When active, alarm synchronization ensures that the alarm configuration settings of card-edge controls and the CCS control software and control panels are consistent. If the XHD-3902 module is set for local control, the alarm settings will appear the same at both the card edge and via CCS, but the settings can only be changed using the card-edge controls. If the module is set for remote control, the alarm settings can be changed via both the card edge and CCS control software and control panels. Alarm configuration settings undergo DejaView (state recovery) automatically. This means that when a module is hot-swapped, the alarm configuration for the new module is updated to the settings of the module that was previously in that slot. See State Recovery Parameter Availability on page 140 for more information.
