In the Philippines, there are many communities that are
suffering from having to cross rivers, and go through the
extreme just to get to a certain location, just like students
in a remote village in the Rizal province. Our product is
not entirely a new idea; however, we are offering an
opportunity, and hope for these individuals that have to
struggle just to get to their destination. Our product is
the production of pavement tiles from plastic waste. This
not only gives more opportunity to certain individuals,
but also helps our environment, slows down climate
change, and reduces landfill pollution. Paving a green
road to a better world.

Our product is a zero-waste pavement tile, that can be
easily made by yourself, it is low budget and can easily
be mass produced. It is called Green Tiles. A group of
20-50 individuals are capable in making enough tiles to
make a path that is about 100 meters long in one day.
The only thing required for making the tiles is fine sand,
plastic, and a drum to help cook them to make the
cement like mix. Our members believe that we can easily
mass produce this product with just 20k to 50k pesos
(maybe even less than 20k), because at the end of the day
it is all about being able to find the materials and
transforming it into our product. We believe that this
product is going to be in high demand because of the fact
that it is very common to find broken paths in the
Philippines, and many remote villages require a safe
alternative.

Comparing Normal tiles and our product. with normal
tiles it uses materials with expensive items, though its
pros are it may be stronger and long lasting. While our
product is made out of recycled materials that may or
may not be that durable for big buildings. Although, we
thought of this product to help poverty that will be easy
for them to get or purchase. There may be cons in our
product but we think it’s a nice idea to share in the
environment.
Poverty struck areas with dangerous/broken paths/trails,
Highly polluted areas. The product can also help build
homes. We mainly focus on poverty since an original
made tiles are pricey, that’s why we thought of that to
help others but mostly the ones who have hard time.
Also, if they are aware of the product, it will definitely
provide a positive impact on their community/lifestyle. It
can prevent accidents and helps keep our planet green.
Overall, our product provides a safer and quicker option
for paths, and can make life easier for individuals that
have to go through extreme conditions to get to their
destination. However, the biggest flaw for our product, is
the fact that not all plastics work with our product, it has
to be a specific plastic for it to successfully make a
working tile. low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is the
recommended plastic for making these tiles. This small
hindrance will not stop our product in living up to its
promises in paving a green road to a better world, and is
definitely worth it, also is very good value.
