I, Surya Narayan Banerjee, am honored to stand before you today as a candidate for the
position of academic secretary of our beloved institution. Being from IISER Pune and an
Exchange student at University of Glasgow, I have experienced a vibrant academic culture,
and I want IIM Jammu to be at par.
It has already been 6 months since I’ve taken over the responsibility of being the Class Rep
of Sec D. And I feel proud to state that they stand testament to everything that I’ve stood
for on our behalf, not only of Section D but also for the benefit of the entire batch, be it
attendance issues, be it pushing deadlines.etc.
In order to foster an academic climate in our institute and remove ANY hindrance that
comes in the way, I had been an active member in availability of the classroom 24*7,
including the provision that there will be no sectional hindrance during self-study, because I
know that study group transcends sectional boundaries.
During the external IIM review meeting, in this very MPH, I stood on our behalf and put
forth the issue of restricted campus entry-exit timings and successfully removed the exit-
timing limitation.
I have personally handled the students who missed out on their exams due to medical
emergencies from my class and facilitated their re-exam process. We all know about the
recent incident about the unfortunate altercation between two of our very own peers. I,
along with Vivek and Aaditya successfully handled the situation and we are extremely glad
to have prevented immense damages to all the stakeholders involved, including us.
Finally I have the experience to organise and manage big events in both campuses, and
facilitating the safety of the students.
Finally, during my time so far, I believe I have been the voice of my fellow peers to raise any
concerns to the related authorities. Finally, more than broadcasting, I believe my work and
dedication speaks for me. And more often than not, I’ve had the benefit and privile.ge of
serving you all present here.
Ladies and gentlemen, its been an honour. Thank you for your precious time.
