OBJECTIVE

Most small businesses currently use a manual system for the management and maintenance of critical
information. The current system requires paper forms, with data stores spread throughout the
establishment. Often information (on forms) is incomplete, prone to errors in statistics and accounts or
does not follow management standards. Forms are often lost in transit between departments and/or
offices requiring a comprehensive auditing process to ensure that no vital information is lost. Multiple
copies of the same information may exist in the establishment and may lead to inconsistencies in data
in various data stores.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Inventory Management System (SIS) is designed for a business firm to replace its existing
manual, paper based system. The new system is to control the following information; product
information sale information and client information. These services are to be provided in an efficient,
cost effective manner, with the goal of reducing the time and resources currently required for such
tasks.

A significant part of the operation of any school involves the acquisition, management and timely
retrieval of great volumes of information. This information typically involves; product information sale
information and client information. All of this information must be managed in an efficient and cost
wise fashion so that an establishment’s resources may be effectively utilized. IMS will automate the
management of the inventory and sales making it more efficient and error free. It aims at standardizing
data, consolidating data ensuring data integrity and reducing inconsistencies to enhance decision
making in a firm or establishment.
The main users of the system will basically be a sales person and a manager. They shall interact
through a fine Graphical User Interface (GUI) developed to run on the Microsoft .NET framework 3.0
or latter.
