The Importance of Bacteria
The Importance of Bacteria
Bacteria is also essential for the aid in ecosystems, one of the reasons being that they
aid in decomposers and are crucial. Not to mention their major involvement with carbon
and nitrogen cycles. Bacteria breaks down dead organisms, animal wastes etc. so they
can obtain nutrients. They don’t eat waste, they actually recycle it, with the process of
decomposition being extremely helpful with helping grow new plants and animals.
Bacteria are also producers in many ecosystems. There are bacteria that use carbon
dioxide and sunlight, similar to plants in order to produce food which in turn supports the
whole cycle of life. Without producers like bacteria, there will be no life in earth simply
because organisms thrive of energy and in order to get energy they must eat. Bacteria
also uses chemicals from earth to make food, these bacteria are what we know as
“Chemosynthetic Bacteria”. These bacteria are widely known for its contribution of
providing food inside deep bodies of water. At the bottom of the ocean, there is no
sunlight, and sunlight is vital for photosynthesis, so instead there are bacteria that use
sulfur to produce food.
