Ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant morning!
Magandang Gensan!
I wish to begin by expressing my gratitude for the
organizers of this webinar. This is a good opportunity to learn and gain more knowledge as we face our daily taskings as police officers in the field.
The R.A. No. 11313, or the "Safe Spaces Act" is
considered as one of the legacies of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He signed and approved this law on April 17, 2019.
The law was enacted because we value the dignity
of every human person and guarantee full respect for human rights. Likewise, we recognize the role of women in nation- building and ensure the fundamental equality before the law of women and men.
That both men and women must have equality,
security and safety not only in private, but also on the streets, public spaces, online, workplaces and educational and training institutions.
In our Service with a HEART, we always remind our
police officers to observed and act with HUMILITY.
“Bawal sa organisasyon natin ang bastos at
mayabang”. We have to maintain our decency and standard of professionalism in the performance of duty.
In you respective stations, you attend to all
complaints on Safe Space Act, you also educate students from the elementary to tertiary level about this act and how they can report cases of gender-based streets, public spaces and online sexual harassment committed against them. This webinar is our avenue for more learnings. We need to equip ourselves with the new, recent and updated data or facts to be able to deliver an effective and efficient police service.
At this stage, allow me to congratulate all of you for
