I. COURSE TITLE: TECHNOLOGY FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING 2

(TECHNOLOGY IN SOCIAL STUDIES)

II. COURSE OVERVIEW

A. INTRODUCTION

TTL 2 (Technology for Teaching and Learning 2) is a (three) 3- unit course that focuses on the
application, design, production, utilization and, evaluation of Information and Communication Technology
(ICT) materials for teaching and learning in Social Studies. The major requirement for this course is an ICT
integrated and Project-based Learning Plan aligned to the K to 12 curricula. All the learning activities and
course requirements will revolve around the student-teacher development learning plans.

B. PROGRAM OUTLINE IN BSED SOCIAL STUDIES

1. Utilize appropriate various sociocultural and historical materials in explaining current issues.
2. Organize communities towards self-reliance and self-sufficiency.
3. Demonstrate leadership skills that will help in teaching or training students who will empower their
communities.
4. Integrate local and global perspectives in teaching the principles of common good.
5. Employ principles of sustainable development in teaching and learning.
6. Show scholarship in research and further learning.
7. Display the qualities of an innovative teacher who has mastery of the subject matter.

III. COURSE STUDY GUIDE

This module is designed for the 21st century learners. However, with today's pandemic situation, we are
in the period of NEW NORMAL and are a bigger challenge in the field of education. Because of the Covid-19
movement restrictions in the Philippines, higher education institutions encourage students to continue their
learning online and do away with the traditional approach of face-to-face learning. The success of this module
depends on your utmost cooperation. This is entirely a student-centered approach where you will be given
hands-on exercises and activities, explore and discover your process of learning. Below is a list of "House
Rules" for you to follow. Be independent and stay focus.

1. Schedule and manage your time to read and understand every part of the module. Read it over and over until
you understand the point.

2. Study how you can manage to do the activities of this module in consideration of your other modules from
other courses. Be very conscious of the study schedule. Post it in a conspicuous place so that you can always
see. Do not ask about questions that are already answered in the guide.

3. If you did not understand the readings and other tasks, re-read. Focus. If this will not work, engage all
possible resources. You may ask other family members to help you. If this will not work again, inform me first
so that I can give you back for assistance.

4. Do not procrastinate. Remember, it is not others who will be short-changed if you will not do your work on
time. It will be you.

5. Before you start doing your task read and understand the assessment tools provided. Do not settle with the
low standards, target the highest standards in doing your assigned tasks. I know you can.

6. If needed, do not hesitate to keep in touch with any available means. Remember, if there is a will there is a
way.

7. In answering all the assessment, evaluation activities, write legibly. It will help if you will not write your
answer in the module if you are not yet sure of your answers. You must remember that all activities in the
module are academic activities which means that the relevant academic conventions apply. Think before you
write.

A. Your answers should be composed of complete and grammatically correct sentences. Do not use
abbreviation and ACRONYMs unless these are introduced in the readings, and do not write in text-speak.
Avoid writing in all caps.

B. In the self-process discussions, write appropriate and well-thought arguments and judgment. Avoid merely
approving or disapproving with what is express in the material. You need to support your inputs in the
discussion with reliable information from empirical observation. Do not write informed opinions.

C. Do not write lengthy answers. Stick to the point. Be clear with your main point and express it as concisely
and possible. Do not let your discussion go astray. Make use of the spaces in the module as your guide.

D. Quote your sources, if there are, in answering all the activities.

8. Lastly, you are the learner; hence, you do the module on your own. Your family members and friends at
home will support you but the activities must be done by you.

D. EVALUATION

To pass this course, you must:

1. read all readings in the modules and answer the pre-assessment and self-assessment activities;
2. answer the print-based discussion activities;
3. submit all required outputs in each module;
4. submit the final project required; and
5. accomplish the mid-term and final evaluation.

A. Formative Assessment
You must answer all pre-assessment and self-assessment activities. Your score here will not be part of your
mid-term or final grade: but it will be part of the completion requirement of the course. Thus, you are expected
to complete the pre-assessment and self-assessment activities. These activities will help you determine if you
need to study more or to advance to the next module.
* You can answer the pre-assessment and self-assessment within the scheduled time for each unit. Scheduling
your work time is important.
* In accomplishing the pre-assessment and self-assessment activities you can ask the help of your parents,
siblings, and friends.

B. Summative Assessment

A. Examination. There will be a final examination to be given for this course.

B. Evaluation Activities. Answer all activities in the evaluation part of each unit. These will be part of your
midterm and final grades. These will help you to be prepared for the quiz after each module.
C. Final Projects. The final projects you will be submitting are the following:
1. Lesson Plan: Make a lesson plan related to Social Studies.
2.Video presentation: Produce a video based on the lesson plan presented.
3. Demonstration. Make a demonstration teaching based on the lesson plan presented.

VI. TECHNOLOGICAL TOOLS

 For you to be able to accomplish the activities, you will need the following software Application, MS
Word, MS PowerPoint, Google Meet, Zoom, Movie Maker, Power Director, iMovie, viva movie, and the like.
Most of the time you will need an internet connection to access the links provided in the various exercises and
activities. Update your Facebook account and messenger for immediate instructions and submission of outputs.

2. discussed the importance of lesson plan and the salient features about the parts of lesson plan using the
guided questions; and
3. created lesson outline using your preferred topic in Social Studies using the template provided.

INTRODUCTION

If there is one thing that changed the world so fast, it is TECHNOLOGY. While there exists technology
in the past as non-digital technology, the current digital technology has been a factor that shrunk the world and
made it flat. It has provided a new environment for learning, new ways teachers teach, and also new ways of
how learners learn. In the beginning, it has created a divide between the digital natives and the digital
immigrants. However, as the years go by, such division has become narrower and even blurred. This has led to
the new education revolution in teaching and learning which has been triggered by technology and resulted in
better learning outcomes in the 21st century.

ABSTRACTION

Lesson Plan

A lesson plan is a teacher's detailed description of the course of instruction or learning trajectory for a
lesson. A daily lesson plan is developed by a teacher to guide class learning. Details may vary depending on the
preference of the teacher, the subject being covered, and the needs of the students. There may be requirements
mandated by the school system regarding the plan. A lesson plan is the teacher's guide for running the particular
lesson, and it includes the goal (what the students are supposed to learn), how the goal will be reached (the
method, procedure), and a way of measuring how well the goal was reached (test, worksheets, homework, etc.)

The Importance of Lesson Plan

Every teacher is required to prepare a lesson plan because this is considered a guide for the day's
lessons. Lesson planning is important because it gives the teacher a concrete direction of what she/he wants to
take up for the day. Research has shown that student learning is correlated to teacher planning. One major
explanation is that when the plan is ready, teachers can focus on its implementation. When teachers do not have
to think so much about what they need to do next they can focus on other parts of the lesson. Lesson planning is
important because it helps teachers ensure that the day-to-day activities that go on in their classrooms are
providing students with an adequate level of long–term progress toward the goals outlined in their scope and
sequence, as well as their educational plans when necessary. An effective lesson plan includes several elements:
learning objectives, quality questions, supplies, and activities. It is important to have the learning objectives in
mind because those should drive the development and implementation of all activities in the classroom. Quality
questions are inquiries that the teacher plans to direct at the students throughout the lesson. Sometimes these
questions are rhetorical but more often they are designed to help the student think at a higher level than simple
memorization and comprehension. It is important to come up with a plan for assessment to determine whether

the class has met its targets. Lesson planning is a complex yet essential part of the teaching process that changes
over time as teachers gain more hands-on experience.
