FR-18D System Update Procedure

Update Data

Caution: Do not power off the FR-18D or remove the USB key during the
update. This can damage the instrument and may require it to be serviced.

1. Decompress the file “fr18d_upd_104.” The following files / folders will be

extracted:

DATAROM (folder)
a.rom
boot.img
PROGRAM.BIN
Startup
update

2. Connect the USB key to a computer and delete all other files on the key. Then,
copy the 6 items noted above to the root directory of the key.

3. With the power off, connect the USB key to the FR-18D.

4. Power on the FR-18D while holding down the Treble register 3 and Treble
register 4 buttons. Wait until all of the Treble Register (1-4) buttons light green.
Note: The update procedure takes about 35-45 seconds.

5. When the process has completed, power off the FR-18D and remove the USB
key.

6. With the FR-18D off, hold down treble registers [1] and [4] and then power on
the FR-18D.

7. Wait until treble registers [1] through [4] start flashing and then release
registers [1] and [4]. The FR-18D diatonic starts the initialization process. When
initialization is complete, the four treble registers stop flashing. The update is
complete.
