910630 Chapter 9: Maintenance and Adjustments Page 9-65 9.10 HT GENERATOR 9.10.1 kV/mA Adjustment The following checks and adjustments should be made to the KV and mA control boards, 1. mAGontrol Refer to Figure 7.12. ‘a. Switch off power to the spectrometer. b. Remove the mA Control Board A601 and refit ton an extension board. ‘Switch on the power. ‘Switch to special test mode; refer to Section 2.13. Set the H.T. to 20kV/4mA, via the “generator screen’ and switch ON the HT Measure the voltage at X1 with respect to AC32 (OV), and if necessary adjustit to read +4V (+/— 50mY) using R63. The voltage at the MAM input AG must be within the same specification. ‘Measure the vonage at X2 with respect to AC32 (OV), and i necessary adjust toread +8.5V (+/— 0.2V) using R64. NOTE: _ In the “Special Test Mode’ the setting 20kV/1mA is an unstable setting, It cannot be used for testing the channels. 2 kV Control Refer to Figuro 7.10. a b, e ‘Switch off the power to the spectrometer. Replace the mA Control Board A601. Remove the kV Control Board A602 and iit ton an exten- sion board. ‘Switch on the power and the HT. The H.T. will run to SOKVIAMA, 4. °. 9.10.2 1 Measure the voltage at X6 and if necessary adjust it to -5V (+/~ SOmV) using R101. Measure the pulse at X@ with an oscilliscope and if necessary adjust the positive going pulso to 6ysecs, using F102, The periodic tme should be approximately 28ysecs. Generator Measuring Data WthekV and mA control boards are adjusted, according to Section 9.10. 1, the measurement tracesin the following two ‘sections can be obtained.
