INFORMAL LETTERS 1

                               
Informal letter is a type of letter written to a close friend, relative
or an acquaintance. They are written to express one’s feelings
or to describe an important incident.
There are several points that need to be kept in mind while
writing a letter. Here they are-
Points To Remember:
1. Informal letters do not require the address of the recipient or
subject.
2. Marks will be awarded on the use of appropriate style,
language, content and expression.
3. Coherence should be maintained.
4. Concluding note (subscription) could be of many types in
informal letters like Yours, Yours loving, With love, Best wishes,
Yours affectionately, etc.
5. Although marks will not be deducted for exceeding the word
limit, it is advisable to follow the given word limit.
Format
Note: Stick close to the left hand margin
1. Writer’s Address: (Your Address)

2. Date : In correct format (e.g. December 28 2013)
BLANK LINE
3.Salutation: (Dear ABC)
BLANK LINE
4. Body of the letter: ( Usually in 3 parts/paragraphs)
4.1. I para : A short yet usually a pleasant opening (e.g. ask
after receiver’s health and about his family)

4.2 II para: Longest (Usually contains the main points of the
letter.)

4.3. III para: Closing Lines (may differ from letter to letter. It
concludes the letter with the promise to keep in touch in the
future.)

5.1 Subscription: (e.g. your friend, your son etc.)
5.2 Writer’s Name (can write only the first Name)
NOTE: Unlike formal letter,  informal letters do not have 
Receiver's Address and Subject  mentioned.
