III. Organized Data & Description and Observations
Question #1
- We have asked the class of Grade-11 St. Sylvester (excluding the researchers) to partake
in a survey about the different preferences of film genres and where to watch them. With the
survey containing 3 questions, us researchers garnered around 26 responses in total. With the
first question, we’ve asked the respondents to choose their top 3 favorite film genres— from
Horror to Romance genres.
In the 26 responses, we have observed that Comedy was the most picked film genre with about
69.2% pick rate or about 18 people and Mystery being the lowest with about 3.8% (1).
Followed by Action with about 57.7% (15), Romance with 53.8% (14), Horror and Action
both with 38.5% (10), and Sci-Fi with 30.8% (8).

Question #2
- With the second question, we’ve asked the respondents to choose where they prefer to
watch these films. In the 26 responses we have found that the majority prefer to watch their
desired films in their respectives homes or about 84.6% (22) of the respondents. With
cinema being second with 15.4% or about 4 people and with drive-in cinemas having
none at all.

Question #3
- With the third question, we’ve asked the respondents to choose on a scale from 1 to 5, if
they’re willing to pay to see their favorite films in cinemas. 1 being unwilling to pay and
preferring to watch in their homes and 5 being willing to pay and preferring to watch in cinemas.
From the 26 responses, we’ve found that most of the respondents chose 2 (somewhat preferring
to watch at home but don't mind paying to see it in cinemas) with a percentage of 42.3% or
about 11 people. Followed up by 3 (don’t mind watching in either their homes or in a cinema)
with 30.8% (8), 1 (unwilling to pay and preferring to watch in their homes) and 5 (being willing
to pay and preferring to watch in cinemas) having both 11.5% (3) and 4 (somewhat prefer
paying to watch it in cinemas but don't mind watching at home) being the least with 7.7% (2).

IV. Conclusion
To conclude, the researchers conducted this research survey about film genres to find out the
different preferences of an individual, specifically their preferences on different film genres. We
found that the top genre in Sylvester is Comedy with a majority of 69.2% and they also prefer to
watch films at home with a majority of 84.6%. In line with Statistics and Probability in General
Mathematics, we now conclude our research that not everyone has the same preferences in film
genres. An individual has their own kind of preferences to their own liking, it could be Romance
films, Comedy films and many more genres! Movies have their own personalities and each
movie is different from one another, including genres. Genres categorizes movies. Categorizing
movies makes it easier for the viewer to discover what he or she likes and will want to see.
