Research Hypothesis

Ho: There is no significant difference on the respondents anxiety when grouped

according to their perceived self-efficacy
Ha: There is a significant difference on the respondents anxiety when grouped according
to their perceived self-efficacy

Statistical Tools
For the statistical tools that were used in this research paper, the researchers used the tools
that were available in the PSPP application. To show the amount of each gender from the
surveys that were sent the bar chart was created in order to see the results cleary. The bar chart
was used also for the strands of the different respondents. We used different tools in the PSPP
apps such as T-tests and the one way ANOVA for multiple groups. We also used descriptive
statistics in order to get the frequencies of the different tables below.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Table 1.1

Profile of the Respondents in terms of Gender

x f %
MALE 22 55.00
FEMALE 18 45.00
total 40 100.00

The respondents were asked in the survey to determine their gender and to show the results
from the survey we used the bar chart above. As you can see, there are 22 male respondents to

the 18 female respondents, meaning that 55% of the people in the survey are male while the
other 45% are female. The amount of people in the two genders are near even, there is no large
amount of respondents clustered in one gender.

Table 1.2

Profile of the Respondents in terms of SHS Strand

x f %
STEM 20 50.00
HUMSS 10 25.00
ABM 6 15.00
GAS 4 10.00
total 40 100.00

Similar to the respondents gender, the respondents were asked to determine their strand. To
show the results that were from the survey we organized the data into a bar chart that is seen
above. The results show that the respondents are clustered in the STEM strand due to the fact
that there are 20 respondents in that category, it is clustered since half of the 40 respondents
are from the STEM strand. The closest one after is HUMSS with 10 respondents, ABM follows
with 6 and GAS is the lowest with 4 respondents. In percentages, STEM has 50% of the
respondents, HUMSS has 25%, ABM has 15%, and lastly, GAS is with 10% of the respondents.

Table 2

Test Anxiety of the Respondents

x f %
Low Anxiety 1 2.50
Moderate Anxiety 20 50.00
High Anxiety 19 47.50
total 40 100.00

Above we showed the overall results of the test anxiety of the SHS students that answered the
questions. The data is graphed in a histogram with a normal curve shown as the basis of the
data, while also having a bar chart of the 3 categories of low, moderate, and high anxiety. We
also used descriptive statistics for frequencies in the PSPP in order to show the data in the table
above. We can see that many students scored high on the anxiety before the test, in
percentages the people with low anxiety takes up 2.50% while moderate held 50% of the
respondents and high had 47.50%. This data shows that the SHS students experience moderate
to high anxiety before a test, this could be because they do not feel like they have prepared
enough for the test.

Table 3

Perceived Academic Self-efficacy of the Respondents

x f %
Low Academic Self-Efficacy 6 15.00
High Academic Self-Efficacy 19 47.50
Very High Academic Self-Efficacy 15 37.50
Total 40 100.00

Above, we can observe that a large percentage of the respondents view themselves as capable
of academic self-efficacy. Two of the largest scores belong to the respondents who think that
they are capable of high and very high academic self-efficacy with high academic self-efficiacy
taking up 47.50% of the respondents while very high academic self efficacy had 37.50%. This is
most likely because the respondents perceive themselves as capable of academic self-efficacy
and that they are confident in their study habits that support their academic goals.

ANOVA

The data in the table above was computaded with the one way ANOVA in the PSPP because
there are multiple strands that we are comparing in the table above. Using the ANOVA we came
to the Sig. Value of 0.632 therefore we must accept our null hypothesis which means that there
is no significant difference on the test anxiety of the respondents when grouped according to
their SHS strand. Meaning that the respondents strand does not determine the anxiety of the
students before a test.

FEMALE Significance

Independent T-Test

Using the Indipendent T-Test with the data gathered from the respondents when they are
grouped according to their gender we have gotten the Sig. Value of 0.121. Meaning that we
must accept our null hypothesis which states that there is no significant difference on the
self-efficiacy of the respondents when grouped according to their gender. This means that
gender is not a factor in academic self-efficiacy.

Bivirate Correlation
We can see on the tabe above the data that we have gathered after we used bivirate correlation
to infer on wether there is a correlation of the respondents test anxiety and their percieved
academic self-efficiacy. We can see that the Sig. Value of the two is 0.432, meaning that we
must accept our null hypothesis in which we stated that there is no significant relationship
between the respondents’ test anxiety and perceived self-efficacy
