DEFINITION
The word suicide breaks down into the Latin words
sui and caedere, which together translate to “kill
oneself.”

Suicide is the intentional taking of one's own


life.
Causes: traumatic stress, mental illness, loss
or fear of loss, and chronic pain and illness
Ingestion of pesticide, hanging and firearms
are among the most common methods of
suicide globally.
TYPES OF SUICIDE

is seen as stemming from the
absence of social integration. It is
committed by individuals who are
social outcast and see themselves as
being alone or an outsider.
Altruistic

Nursing student, 19, dies
after jumping from
building in apparent
suicide
Case #1

A 19-YEAR-OLD nursing student died after he reportedly


jumped from the 10th floor of a university building in
Mandaue City on Monday morning, Oct. 17, 2022.

Maj. John Libres, chief of the Opao Police Station of


Mandaue City Police Office, said the victim (name
withheld) was a first year student.
