2.3.6 Backup fluoroscopy and backup radiography
You can perform fluoroscopy and radiography when the PC is turned OFF, or when not
logged in.
These operations are called "backup fluoroscopy" and "backup radiography."
This function is in order that studies in progress can be safely completed even when
applications have hung up, or when the PC has malfunctioned.

[Conditions for backup fluoroscopy and backup radiography]

Images that are normally saved in the PC are temporarily saved in the System Control
Unit (SCU) memory.

(A) The remote control console is turned ON, and the PC is either turned OFF, or not
logged in.

(B) The remote control console is turned ON, and an application on the PC has
abnormally terminated.

[Saving images acquired with backup radiography]

Turn ON the PC, and log in.

Click the [New Patient] button, and the [Store Backup Images] button is displayed at the
bottom of the patient registration screen. Input patient information, and by clicking the
[Store Backup Images] button, the backup radiographic images that are stored in the
SCU memory are saved to the hard disk.

[Backup fluoroscopy restrictions]

• You cannot perform fluoroscopic image acquisition or LIH save.

[Backup radiography restrictions]

• Up to 16 radiographic images can be taken.

• You cannot perform sequential radiography.
• You cannot perform image processing.
• Because display processing is performed using the study processing conditions that
are applied in Utility, display of the image on the monitor may be dark, or otherwise
have inadequate brightness. In these cases as well, images will be displayed suitably
when saved on the digital image processor.

CAUTION: Because backup radiographic images are saved in SCU

memory, these will be deleted if the power to the remote control
console is turned OFF. Additionally, if the PC is restarted, then
the images may not be properly recovered, and thus deleted.
Therefore, only use this method if other X-ray systems cannot
be used, or where otherwise absolutely necessary, and where
possible, reduce the number of radiographic images that are
taken.

NOTE: 1. LIH (Last Image Hold) images are the last fluoroscopy or radiography
images displayed on the live monitor.

2. Acquisition is saving LIH images and radioscopic images to the digital

image processor hard disk.

3. REV™ is a registered trademark of removable hard disk drives

manufactured by Iomega Corporation.

4. In order to avoid the loss of acquired images resulting from failure of a hard
disk or other causes, it is recommended that DICOM save settings are
configured for automatic save (IMMEDIATE or END STUDY), or that
DICOM print settings are set for automatic printing (AUTO or S.AUTO) for
each protocol name.

5. Timing of the release of the single image radiography/sequential image

radiography switch may result in acquisition of either a non-irradiated white
image (negative display), or an image with insufficient density. This is not
a failure.

6. Changing either the I.I. size or aperture size of the X-ray beam limiting
device immediately after radiography may result in the positioning of the
electronic shutter differing from that of the actual X-ray beam limiting
device. This is not a defect.

10. Saving Images to REV and
Reuse of REVs
The REV is used to back up images in the hard disk of the PC. Ensure that a REV
cartridge is inserted when using the system.

When a study is not being performed (from login to image acquisition and from the end
of the study to the start of shutdown), the data saved in the hard disk of the PC is
backed up to a removable hard disk (REV). If a REV cartridge is not inserted, then data
that has not been saved will be collectively written to a REV cartridge when one is next
inserted. If there is insufficient disk space remaining on the REV cartridge, then insert a
new cartridge.

If images are saved to DICOM devices or other systems and backup of images to the
REV is not required, you can delete the images saved on the REV cartridge to reuse the
disk.

CAUTION: If the REV cartridge is cleared, then you will no longer be able to restore
images that were deleted from the internal hard disk.

[Clearing a REV cartridge]

(1) Turn ON the power, and insert the REV cartridge you wish to reuse.

(2) Input "rev" into the User ID field, input the password, and then log in.

Obtain the password from the service engineer.

remaining REV cartridge space, and the task bar indicates that insertion of a new
REV cartridge is necessary. If a new REV is to be used for some reason, clicking
the [Finalize] button for finalization with the REV cartridge inserted makes it
possible to complete backup storage and to start backup on a new REV cartridge
even if there is remaining space in the REV cartridge. In these cases, the REV #
increases by 1.
