• Paytm Payments Bank has received final approval from the Reserve Bank
of India to operate as a Bharat Bill Payment Operating Unit (BBPOU).
• PPBL has got the final approval from RBI to operate as Bharat Bill
Payment Operating Unit under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act,
2007. As an entity under Bharat Bill Payment System, PPBL has got the
final authorization to conduct bill payment and aggregation business as a
BBPOU.
• It was launched as a pilot project in 2016 and went live a year later.

Protean’s arm gets RBI nod for AA Licence

• Protean eGov Technologies Limited (formerly NSDL e-Governance
Infrastructure Limited), has received approval from the RBI for its
wholly owned subsidiary to operate as an Account Aggregator with
an NBFC (Non-Banking Financial Company)-AA certificate.
• Garuda Aerospace Pvt Ltd partnered with the Union Bank of India
• Under this partnership, 150 Garuda Agri Kisan drones have received
sanction for Loan under the Union Kisan Pushpak Scheme.
• AIF Scheme has about Rs 1 lakh crore out of which Rs 1,000 crores have
been allocated to drones.
• The AIF loans are collateral-free and can secure up to Rs.10 lakhs with
three months of EMI relaxation and a 5 percent interest rate for the youth
and farmers.
• All banks were notified by the Indian Banks’ Association last month about the
discontinuation of the Padho Pardesh Interest Subsidy Scheme from 2022-23.
• The scheme so far was being implemented through Canara Bank, the
designated nodal bank.
• The objective of the scheme, which was part of the then Prime Minister’s June
2006 fifteen-point programme for the welfare of minorities, is to award interest
subsidy to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of
notified minority communities to provide them better opportunities for higher
education at Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D levels abroad and enhance their
employability.
• Under the scheme, interest payable by the students availing education loans
as prescribed under the Education Loan Scheme of the IBA for the period of
moratorium (that is course period, plus one year or six months after getting a
job, whichever is earlier) shall be borne by the Government of India.

MV Ganga Vilas

• PM Narendra Modi flagged off the ‘MV Ganga Vilas’, the world’s longest river
cruise in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The 51-day luxury cruise, passing through 27
river systems, will cover a distance of 3,200 km from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to
Dibrugarh in Assam, via Bangladesh.
• The expected date of arrival of MV Ganga Vilas in Dibrugarh is on 1st March, 2023.
• MV Ganga Vilas, the first of its kind cruise service, is supported by the Inland
Waterways Authority of India under Ministry of Shipping, Ports and Waterways
• MV Ganga Vilas cruise cost around Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 per day and the cost
of the entire 51-day trip will be around Rs 20 lakh.
• The cruise includes visit to 50 tourists spots including world heritage sites, national
parks, river ghats, and major cities like Patna in Bihar, Sahibganj in Jharkhand,
Kolkata in West Bengal, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Guwahati in Assam.
