General Instructions :
 The question paper comprises of four sections, A, B, C, and D. You have to attempt all the sections.
 All questions are compulsory.
 Internal choice is given in Section C only. Attempt only one out of them.
 Question number 1 to 16 in Section A are one mark each. These are to be answered in one word or in
one sentence.
 Question number 17 to 30 in Section B are of two marks each. These are to be answered in about
10 - 30 words each.
 Question number 31 to 38 in Section C are of three-marks each. These are to be answered in brief.
 Question number 39 to 41 in Section D are case based question of four marks each. These are to be
answered in brief.

velocity of car B after collision. (3)

A bullet of mass 10 g moving with a velocity of 400 m /s gets embedded in a freely suspended
wooden block of mass 900 g. What is the velocity acquired by the block ?

40. Examples of metals are gold, silver, copper, iron, sodium, potassium etc. Mercury is the only metal
that is liquid at room temperature. Examples of non-metals are hydrogen, oxygen, iodine, carbon,
bromine, chlorine, etc. Some elements have intermediate properties between those of metals and non-
metals, they are called metalloids, examples are boron, silicon, germanium etc. (1×4 = 4)
