Ata Court of General Sessions, convened on July 14, 2022, the Grand Jurors of

Colleton County present upon their oath:

MURDER

That on or about June 7, 2021, the Defendant, Richard Alexander Murdaugh, in

Colleton County, did kil another person with malice aforethought; to wit: Richard
Alexander Murdaugh did fatally shoot the victim, Margaret “Maggie” Kennedy Branstetter

Murdaugh, with a ifle, and Maggie Murdaugh did die as a proximate result thereof. Allin
violation of Section 16-3-10 of the S.C. Code of Laws, as amended.

Against the peace and dignity of the State, and contrary to the statute in such case

made and provided.
