AY 2022-
2023
Aguia, Jun Mark A.
Choose 3 questions to answer. If you answer more that three, the score will be deducted.
1. In 2050, it is estimated that there will be close to 10 billion people. How do we ensure that
everybody is fed? (10 points)
Ans.
Some of things that can solve food insecurity in the future due to overpopulation is innovation
of agriculture and penalty for those people who are wasting foods. According to FAO’s work on
agricultural innovation, innovative technologies and approaches increase productivity and
profitability, improve consumption of nutritious food, enable young people and women to
access information, technology and markets, and ensure that agricultural practices are better for
future generations. Pudney & Cruz (2023) stated that , reducing food loss increases food
availability, preserves nutrients, reduces food contamination, reduces unnecessary resource
consumption, and increases profits for food value chain actors. Addressing these issues could
also improve food security in many developing countries. These are the reasons why those
people who are wasting foods should be punished. It doesn’t matter if it’s their own money or
not.

2. What is the main problem in Philippine Agriculture? How does in affect the Filipino people? How
can it be solved? (10 points)
Ans.
For now, the main problem facing the Philippine Agriculture is the hike in the country’s inflation
rate. The inflation rate mostly affects the Filipinos who are earning less than the average
minimum wage and the farmers. It is because the higher the inflation rate of our country, the
higher the prices of agricultural products will also become for them. This can be solved by
cutting the government spending budgets and when the government is committed to ensuring
food security and affordability and to reducing transportation and logistics costs to arrest a
further rise in inflation and protect Filipino consumers.

3. What should be done to improve the quality and safety of the food available in the market? (10
points)
Ans.
To improve the quality and safety of the food available in the market, the products should be
processed carefully for checking or approval, for example, from the Department of Agriculture,
DTI, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and DOH before they are displayed on the market.
And another thing is, the producers should be qualified for the production of the products; they
must be knowledgeable about how the products should be produced safely to avoid health
hazards.
