THE PROBLEM

Statement of the Problem

The purpose of the study is to determine the perception of the public on whale

shark tourism in Lila, for the year 2022.

Specifically, the study aimed to answer the following questions:

1. What is the socio-demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1 age;

1.2 sex; and

1.3 length of residency?

2. What are the perceptions of the respondents on whale shark tourism in terms of:

2.1 environmental;

2.2 economic; and

2.3 socio-cultural?

3. Is there a significant relationship between the socio-demographic profile and

perceptions of the respondents?

4. Is there a significant degree of variance among the aspects concerning the

perceptions of the respondents on whale shark tourism?

5. What intervention programs can be proposed based on the findings of the study?
