II. Project Summary

One of the most significant technological developments in human history is the Internet.
These days, the internet has expanded beyond email, websites, and message boards to include
learning environments where individuals communicate, participate in education, and
exchange ideas. Due to needs created by a changing world, social media use is constantly
evolving. This makes it possible for society to change in terms of marketing, finances,
political campaigns, and other areas, but its position in education is what matters most. The
use of the Internet as a major teaching tool aided the education sector during the outbreak of
the global pandemic. In the absence of face-to-face instruction, the DepEd's BELCP used the
internet to supplement the teaching and learning process. The problem of the current
pandemic persists, particularly in the education sector, and an innovative approach to
education is required. This prompted the proponent to conceptualized RHS Project
ePortfolio: Digital Compilation of Student Learnings in Science.

This project is to be used by the Science teachers at Raniag High School to document
students learning progress and achievements. This is a tool for easy collection of students
output for teachers evaluation. This is to be done by science teachers using their own google
drive to collect students output per quarter and this will be uploaded on the website created
for the Science department.
The goal of RHS Project ePortfolio is to provide a more resilient method of
communicating, monitoring, and assessing students. This is an approach that examines the
project-based learning utilized by Science teachers in their instruction by examining student
learnings established by their created products as they undertake tasks to demonstrate what
they know and to be able to do so in a number of ways. The following are the expected
outputs in each year level per quarter.

A website page will be created and Science subject teachers will upload their students
collected output from the google drive and to be evaluated by a selection committee made up
of science teachers to determine which submission stands out as having the best quality. This
will be done quarterly, and they will be recognized. There will be a regular coccus or
dialogue among the teachers which will be included in the LAC sessions.
Dissemination of information is also primary factor especially to the stakeholders, the
parents who in a way will be the supporters of the said innovation because they will be
needing internet connections along the way of implementation.
This project is facilitated by the teacher proponent in collaboration with all Raniag
High School Science Teachers, teachers, alumni, and other stakeholders.
A culminating activity will be done during the Science Month, where there will be an
awarding of the best output and it will be a part of the Workplan of the department.
This project requires five thousand four hundred fifteen pesos (P5,415.00) to be
implemented at Raniag High School. It will run from August 2022 to June 2023.

III. Project Background

The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic as a worldwide concern has created
enormous challenge in various sectors around the world. One of them is education, which has
been identified as one of the most affected areas. This phenomenon altered the mode of
instructional delivery and the perspectives of education stakeholders on the type of learning
continuity applicable to learners in the face of the impending uncertainty caused by the health

crisis. One of the problems encountered is on the tracking of students’ progress in their
learnings through their outputs and activities.
In response, Raniag High School devised a method of collecting students work, such
as using the internet to compile students output and to store these as great assets for
documenting an individual’s learning progress and achievements. This is in line with the
department of education's BELCP thrusts which aims to track each learner's learning
progress. This provides an easy access on how far students have progressed through their
learnings and easy way to log in their outputs and activities. This is done to monitor students’
work and maintain things in order, as well as to ensure that teachers and students are always
informed of their timetables.
A teacher’s role in project-based learning is that of a facilitator and coach. Instead of
educating our students to be passive recipients of information, we aim to develop them into
explorers, critical thinkers, and problem solvers who have an innate desire to learn more.
As Science teachers, we strive to provide our learners with a rewarding learning
experience by integrating project-based learning into our modality teaching. This is a strategy
to improve and arrest problems on student’s behavior, task delivery and completion,
competency implementation and student’s participation.
Jurnal Pendidikan MIPA, 21 (2), 2020, 146-162 155 incorporated with 5E’s approach,
student-centered approach, lecture and simple experiments, motivational activities, and
feedbacking would be the most appropriate methodologies for online learning. Teaching
and learning will become more creative, interesting, and engaging if technology integration
is extensively implemented (Arrieta, 2020).
In order to respond to the new environment in teaching and learning, science teachers
must be prepared and use interactive classroom discussions aided by various applications,
multi-media presentations, e-books, YouTube videos, google slides, article reviews
(published on the internet), digital pen and tablet, and MS whiteboard in addition to the
traditional face- to-face. In order to produce a thorough assessment of students’ achievements
and growth at this point, the assessment of students’ outputs is also included.

IV. Project Objectives

A method to be used in linking numeracy and digital literacy assessment on students
output and learnings in Science is the RHS Project ePortfolio: Digital Compilation of
Students Outputs and Learnings and specifically it aims to:
A. enable students to express or communicate themselves in the different forms of
multi-media making use of the technology –the Internet;
B. allow students who are engaged in the internet to create an output that integrates
their learnings in the lessons per quarter;
C. provide an avenue to showcase their interests, hidden talents and skills using the
Internet;
D. engage the students to be especially “IN” nowadays for their involvement to online
–Technology;
E. present and check students’ rendezvous, activities, and learnings through a
paperless portfolio and;
F. use the project – based approach in the learning modality to enhance student’s
participation and learning.

V. Project Methodology
RHS Project ePortfolio main focus is to gather students’ project – based outputs
compiled electronically in the learning modality. This is to be realized through a collaborative
framework patterned on the following approach principles: control, organize, collaborate,
prioritize, timebox and iterate. The first thing that must be done is to form a team or a group.
A team leader will determine the direction and pace for their group. In order to accomplish
the goals, tasks will be assigned in a specified order and have a deadline. The group of
students will be watched over and periodically inspected by the subject teacher. The group or
team will be allowed to plan, execute, check, and act. Outputs will be then collected and
subject for checking and in turn deposited in the Google Drive for later upload in a website.
