    Dear Parents/Carers

    You may be aware from media coverage that the National Educational Union have
    declared strike action, which will take place on Wednesday 1 February 2023. The
    strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the
    government over teachers’ pay and not because of any issues at our school.

    I’m getting in touch to confirm that Byrchall High School will be open as usual
    on Wednesday 1 February 2023.

    The majority of teachers at Byrchall are not members of the National Education
    Union. Therefore, most lessons will be unaffected. In the small number of lessons
    that are affected children will be supervised and work will be available. However, it
    would be helpful if pupils are able to bring in some personal reading material.
