1. Introduction

This document describes the specifications for mark printing. It defines the allowable mark
position and dimensions as well as its color and coating limitations.

2. Mark color definitions

The image registration feature is based on contrast between printed mark and its
background.

Mark color – black (other dark colors may also be supported)


Background color – white

4. "Masking zone"

The area before and after printed mark is the relevant area of the background and called
"masking zone" (noted as dimension "C"). This area size is minimum 13mm and at least
±5mm from mark borders.
This zone has to be white to assure contrast with black printed mark.
In addition, this zone must be uniform in terms of color, texture and coating. For example, if
the sheet is coated, the coating must begin before or after the masking zone (as shown in
the left and middle images below) but never within it (as shown in the right image).
