Activity 1 (World Englishes)

Task:
1. What have you learned about the global expansion of English? (Give at least three
things)
- I have learned that using English doesn’t focus on how we pronounce or read it, it is
also about correcting the right grammar to be able to learn it. I also learned about
that there is different understanding of the global expansion of English because it is
still developing with different varieties of English. I learned that using signage which
still has statements should have clear statement when using English, to be able to
understand what it means.
2. What does the Global spread of English show us about the importance of the English
Language?
- The Global spread of English shows importance because there are still other
countries that doesn’t know how to speak English or still at the phase of a beginner.
The importance of English Language is for us to be able to understand each other,
because English language became the main language to use to communicate with
different people from different countries.

Evaluation: In a paragraph of at least five sentences, write the most important thing you have
learned about World Englishes and discuss how it will help you communicate more
effectively.

The most important thing I have learned about World Englishes is that I have to know about the
development of English or how it evolves. It is to be able to differentiate the pronunciation of
different words. It will help me communicate more effectively because if I am knowledgeable
about the different English, I would be able to talk and understand other tourists If I travel.
Learning English is helpful because it can be useful when you talk or chat online with friends
that adapts the different variety of English. Learning correct grammars will also help me not by
just communicating with others but for me to understand anything without getting lost in
different countries.
