Safety Instruction
To ensure and enduring performance of this product, you must
comply strictly with the instructions enclosed herein.

Warning! Improper operation or maintenance could be dangerous and

result in an accident or injury.

Do not over the max operating pressure : 16bar or 45 bar

All maintenance and repairing work must be proceeding under no
pressure.
 Use pressure-resistant installation material only.
The discharge line must be firmly fixed.
Never discharge condensate onto people or any other objects.
The electricity operation must obey local rules.
Maintenance and installation must be done without electricity.
All the work regarding to electricity must be carried out by qualified
technician.
Suitable for environments with temperatures above 1 ° C. In the area
where is possible getting frost, heating device with temperature
controller is necessary.
 Needs electricity for operation.
Can NOT be installed in dangerous zone (For example: explosion area).
Must use original genuine parts, or the warranty will be invalid.

Components
Components Description:

2
Components

Condensate Inlets:
Condensate flows into the housing from Pipe.

I. Best pipe size guide

Type Inlet Outlet Ventilate tube
FA-100 1/2” 1/4” 1/2”

FA-200 1/2” 1/2” 1/2”

FA-700 3/4” 1/2” 3/4”

FA-2000 3/4” 1/2” 3/4”

FA-4000 1” 1/2” 1”

II. There are 2 condensate inlets. Please refer to illustration as below for
upper inlet or refer to illustration VI. for lower inlet.

3
Components

III. Please install a manual ball valve for discharge impurity and
maintenance.
IV. A full scale ball valve is necessary upstream the FA auto drain for
maintenance purpose. (Caution: Always use full scale ball valve.
Please change previous one if it is not full scale ball valve)
V. In order to check the drain situation more easily, you can install a
section of transparent pipe.
VI. Be careful the slope of inlet pipe. The condensate inlet must be lower
than the lowest point of the tank; or please connect to the lower inlet.
(Please refer to VI.)

VII. Ventilate pipe is necessary if lower inlet is chosen, or the trap can be
not operate。

4
Components

VIII. If you use tubes to connect FA auto drain, please notice the
horizontal status; otherwise it could not work well.

VII. Each condensate accumulation point must be drained separately due

to different pressure.

Low level sensor

Sense the low level of condensate and instruct to close the ball valve.

High level sensor

Sense the high level of condensate and instruct to open the ball valve.

5
Components

Bottom level
The trap won’t drain condensate completely in order to reach the
request of no air loss.

Electricity
I. FA auto drain needs power for operation.
II. The power terminal block should be connected 220VAC. Double
check the label before connects.

Caution : Supply voltage must be correct. There are risks of an electric

shock involving injury or death and damaged the unit if supply
incorrect voltage. Non-compliance with instructions will void
your warranty.
Caution : Please tight the power connection after finishing the
electricity and alarm signal connection in order to have IP55
protection.
Caution : Do NOT take away the water-proof rubber which inside the
power connection hole if alarm signal in not connected.

PWR OPEN ALARM

PWR OPEN ALARM

TEST
TEST

PWR – Power on.

OPEN – Light on: Ball valve is opening to drain condensate.
ALARM – Light flash: Drain failed.

Microprocessor opens the ball valve 2 times every 2 minutes before

malfunction is resolved.
The red LED is flashed when trap is alarm.
 The possible causes are :
 Wrong installation
Too much condensate ( Larger type is needed)
 Block
 Impurities
 Pipe frozen
There is a relay for dry point using. The malfunction signal will be
transmitted to the relay if malfunction is not solved.
TEST – Test button: press the button to test if discharge function is OK or not.

7
Installation
Caution: In order to ensure the trap operate properly, discharge all
condensate out of the equipment before install FA auto drain, and
after installation, please do it again before power on.
1. Inlet pipe size can not smaller than inlet of trap.
2. Never install filter or check valve to ensure the trap can drain smoothly
so the compressor won’t be damaged.
3. The inlet slope downward>1%.
4. Always use full flow ball valve.
5. In order to check the drain situation more easily, install a section of
transparent pipe.
6. The required minimum pressure increases 0.1 bar while the height of
outlet pipe increases 1 meter. The height of outlet pipe can not higher
than 5 meters.
7. Ventilate pipe is necessary if any other inflow problems occur.

8
Installation

Installation
Caution: Ventilate
 Each condensate accumulation point must be drained separately;
can’t share the same trap.
If slope in the inlet line is not sufficient or any other inflow problems
occur, a ventilate pipe is necessary.

Caution: Install on pipe

If condensate is occurred inside the compress air pipe, we suggest
to arrange the pipe (with slope) to let condensate flows into trap
smoothly.

Caution: The minimum height of installation

Condensate inlet must be lower than the lowest point of the tank.

Caution: Continuous slope

The inlet pipe must be continuous slope. Ventilate pipe is necessary
if installation area is limit.
Avoid condensate accumulate in pipe when install inlet pipe.

Caution: Ventilate pipe

Ventilate pipe is necessary if condensate volume is much.

Screw on the cable connection and
tight the cable
Close the cover and tighten screws

Voltage-free contact (Dry contact)

FA auto drain offer one set of voltage-free contact for alarm and monitoring.

1. When power on and normal condition, 1-3 closed,1-2opened.

2. When alarm occurred or power off, 1-3 opened, 1-2 closed.

10
Installation

Maintenance suggestion
Clean the housing and valve at least once a year
Discharge impurity manually at least once a month
(Especially for micro oil screw air compressor, please comply with this
rule.)

Function test
Press test button for 2 seconds
 Valve will open to drain
