Task Five – Identifying

Communication Skills (2.1)

Briefly highlight the importance of the following communication skills (approx. 50 words each):

LISTENING

Listening is a great way to show how that you are interested and valuing something what the other
person is saying. It also is helpful for the person themselves since it helps them take in information
and process it in their head in a way in which they can understand.

SPEAKING

Speaking is a great way to get your ideas across to someone in order for them to either consider it or
expand on the idea. It also helps with sounding confident and not afraid to speak your thoughts to
other people.

READING

Reading is a great way to process information in order to understand and act on a topic in which may
come across in an interview. It’s a good skill to have when being in situation where you must
understand something for example quickly to talk about it and exchange ideas.

WRITING

Writing is a great way to take down some quick notes so you have them for later on to refer from for
future reference.

NON-VERBAL (i.e., body language and gesture)

Identify how you might use the appropriate skills in section A for the following activities (if you
have already used any of them, give a brief example):

PREPARING FOR AN INTERVIEW

ATTENDING THE INTERVIEW

FOLLOWING UP THE INTERVIEW

(There is a link in Moodle to help you regarding following up an interview)

PLANNING FOR A FILM SHOOT IN A TEAM

PREPARING AND DELIVERING A PRESENTATION

COMPLETING AN APPLICATION FORM

There is an approximate word count of 300 words, but this is flexible and you may write more if
you wish to support your examples.

You may not use ALL the skills listed in Section A for any one activity, so identify the appropriate
