are called, as
Zephaniah (Reading 1) preaches, “to seek the Lord in
all things.”
As a people of faith we are called to focus our lives
on the “blessedness” of the Sermon on the Mount: to
seek our joy and fulfillment in God above all
things. Our “blessedness” cannot be measured by our
portfolios, celebrity or intellect, but in our ability to
grasp that we exist not in and of ourselves but by and in
the love of God.
The “blessed” of the Gospel have embraced a spirit of
humble gratitude before the God who gives, nurtures
and sustains our lives. The “blessed” seek to respond to
such unfathomable love the only way they can: by
returning that love to others, God’s children, as a way

Tuesday, February 8th, is the International Day of
Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking. It is
celebrated on the Feast of St. Josephine Bakhita. Let us
pray for the victims and for those who work to end
human trafficking. Visit the RCMP Human Trafficking

about this issue that affects victims in our own local
community.

OUT OF THE COLD
Pope Francis has expressed his desire that we care for
the weakest members of society, “the homeless, the
addicted, refugees, indigenous peoples, the elderly who
are increasingly isolated and abandoned…migrants…
victims of human trafficking and the unborn”
(210,211,213 – The Joy of the Gospel). Out of the Cold
provides this care along with many other individuals
and organizations across our diocese. Let us continue in
our efforts to assist the most vulnerable so we can be, as
our Holy Father states, “a Church that is poor and for
the poor.”

SANCTUARY LAMP
We have an opening for the Sanctuary Lamp for the
month of April, 2023. If you would like to book the
lamp in memory of your loved one, please contact the
office asap. Cost is $35 per week.
