Name: JOHN SYVEL L. QUINTRO Year & Section: BEED III-C Date: September 28, 2021

Activity 2.1
Develop your own plan in delivering the lesson on Phases of Matter in elementary level.

I. Objectives:

 Define solids, liquids and gases

 Identify the three phases of matter
 Classify pictures of matter as a solid, liquid or gas
 Describe changes in properties of materials when exposed to certain conditions

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Phases of Matter

Skills: Observe, Analyze, Identify and use critical thinking skills

Values Integration: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility and Understanding

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY PUPIL’S ACTIVITY

a. Review

Class what was our previous topic last

meeting?
Sir!
Anyone? (anyone raising their hands)
Our previous topic last meeting is all
Yes Princess? What is our topic last about Science
meeting?

So, What is Science again as a

Science is a systematic study wherein
it comes from Latin word “scientia”
recap Yes Lisa!
which means knowledge
Very good Lisa! Since you already know what
is Science, we may proceed to our next
discussion which all about Phases of Matter

But before we proceed to our discussion proper

I have some here a video wherein you need to
follow while dancing and singing.

b. Motivation
Yes, sir!
Class, are you familiar with the song
Deep Deep Deep?

(I will show them the songs and everybody will

sing and dance)

Okay kids. Very good. You performed very

well. Thank you for your cooperation.
Thank you Sir!
You may now take your seats!

c. Vocabulary

Class, what have you observe in the

chalk board? What are these pictures?
What are the phases of matter did they
belong? (Student’s Answer)

1. Paper 1. Solid
2. Salt 2. Solid
3. Oil 3. Liquid
4. Sugar 4. Solid
5. Milk 5. Liquid
6. Carbon dioxide 6. Gas
7. Vinegar 7. Liquid
8. Oxygen 8. Gas
9. Wood 9. Solid
10. Ice 10. Solid

These are the examples of materials that belong

on the three phases of matter which are SOLID,
LIQUID and GAS.

d. Lesson Proper

Matter is everything around you.

Atoms and compounds are all made of very

small parts of matter. Those atoms go on to
build the things you see and touch every day.

3 States of matter
 Solids
 Liquids
 Gases

 Matter can exist in one of three main

states: solid, liquid, or gas.
 Solid is composed of tightly packed
particles. A solid will retain its shape; the
particles are not free to move around.
 Liquid is made of more loosely packed
particles. It will take the shape of its
container. Particles can move about within
a liquid, but they are packed densely
enough that volume is maintained.
 Gas is composed of particles packed so
loosely that it has neither a defined shape
nor a defined volume. A gas can be
compressed.

In solids, the particles are tightly packed

together. In liquids, the particles have more
movement, while in gases, they are spread
out. Particles in chemistry can be atoms, ions
or molecules.

e. Application

Draw some examples of solids, liquids and

gases. Write down the name next to the
picture.
IV. Evaluation (Assessment questions should be aligned with your objectives. But it
shouldn't be always a paper and pencil test.)

WORD BANK

SOLID LIQUID GAS MATTER MELT FREEZE

Fill in the blanks with one word from word bank.

 Anything that takes up space is called _.

 Lemonade is a .
 A blocks and woods are examples of .
 Air is a .
 When you heat up a solid like chocolate, it will .
 When you_ water, it will turn into an ice.

Answer the following questions:

Can a solid like ice turn into a liquid?

Is a magnet a solid, liquid, or a gas?

V. Homework

Kindly cut and paste the pictures on paper and label it on what states of matter
where they belong it’s whether Solid, Liquid or Gas.
