Abstract:
This assignment was conducted to study the different stitch on casual dress shirt. Casual dress
shirt was taken, and different stitches were observed on both outside and inside of the shirt
which were class 300, class 400 and class 500. In industry it has great importance, because
according requirements of end use and needed propertieswe applied different stitches. In this
we also check fabric properties, measurements of shirts, machines require for stitches and
sequence of operations for making a dress shirt.

1. Introduction

1.1. Objectives
The basic purpose of this experiment was to know about the stitches use in a basic
shirt, properties of applied stitches, fabric properties, measurements, machines used for making a
basic shirt and sequence of operations for making a basic shirt.
1.2. Theory

2. Equipment and Materials

Basic shirt (Dress shirt)
3. Method
Intially take a dress shirt and check their stitches classes of each part like collar, collar stand,
collar attech, sleeve attech, out seam, placket etc. Then take their measurements. Each stich have
a specific shape and passage of thread and arrangement of thread in each stitch will be effective.
4. Results/Conclusion
Stitch types
It is concluded that different type of stitches are used in different seam operation but mostly use lock
stitch and at outer seam overedge stitch.
