Violence against women has been one of the most sought crime in the world even at the later

times. Women’s rights is also one of the controversies that the world has known even as of today
because there are many cases wherein women are oppressed by either the public or some
individual. Given that this is an issue, the Philippines still has a law wherein it protects and gives
rights to women and their children that are affected by violence.
The Republic Act 9262 gives way to women, being victims of violence, together with their
children can be one of the most disrupting way on how a family is broken. But given the
circumstances, the law provides specifically not just those legally binded by marriage, but also
those whom consider their counterpart as their partner. This law can be supported by many
students, given that there are still present rallies wherein students and other individuals fight for
their rights wherein this law can give way on the protection of women against violence, together
with their children/s.
The factors to note about this law is that almost any form of violence brought about is subject to
this law. Meaning, physical, sexual, psychological abuse is a consideration for this law, may it be
economic abuse wherein financing is deprived from the partner. In particular, women can also be
liable for any violence brought about in their relationship.
One example situation wherein RA 9262 can be used. Two individuals involved in a mutual
relationship, A is harassing B due to rejection of a wanted intercourse, but as A keeps on
harassing, B sustains injuries and as a form of resentment by A to B, A leaves B for 2 months
without any form of financial help, given that there are injuries that B had and B relies on A for
their daily budget. In the scenario, A will be liable to damages due to the harassment done to B.
