MESOPOTAMIAN ARCHITECTURE: STUDIO UNIT

Ishtar Gate is one of the most impressive Mesopotamian Architecture constructed

during the Babylonian era. The studio unit designed was inspired by the architecture.

Ishtar Gate was highlighted in the design through the use of colors and details. Yellow
and blue are the colors of the gate, hence, the study area of the studio unit was mostly composed
of those colors. Also, one particular detail on the gate is the addition of white flowers. The
designer made use of that detail to add life to the wall. Moreover, as seen on the wall column are
yellow-painted wall treatment with blue color on the edges, which were also in the gate. The
actual Ishtar Gate also features animals; one of them is lion, which was often associated with the
goddess Ishtar, the deity whom where the architecture was made for. Instead of drawing a lion,
the designer decided to use the word instead through a quote which can be seen on the frame.
However, since the client is a female, the designer used the term “lioness”.
