1 Topic: Smoking bad for health. (Fact)

Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that smoking is bad habit that
cause injury to health.

Central Idea: There are three good reason to believe that smoking is bad habit and can
cause injury to health.

Main ideas:
I. Smokers can become addicted to smoking if not treated at an early stage.
II. Smoking can cause health risks like cancer.
III. Passive smoking means breathing in other people tobacco smoke. Secondhand
smoke also be highly dangerous to health.
2 Topic: Television violence is bad children. (value)

SPS: To persuade my audience that watching television violence is bad for children.

Central Idea: Watching television violence can cause child anxiety aggressive behaviour
and effect their mental health.

Main ideas:
I. Television can have a significant impact on developing value systems and shaping
behaviour. extensive viewing of television violence causes aggressiveness.
II. Children's mental health will be affected.
III. Children imitate the violence they observe on television, which can cause injury.
3 Topic: illegal racing (policy)

SPS: To persuade my audience that the government should enforce law to prevent illegal
racing among teenagers.

Central Idea: The number of teenagers involved in illegal racing has been growing recently,
and it’s a serious problem that is violating laws and endangering lives.

Main ideas:
i. Illegal racing can develop bad habits like being involved in criminal activities,
such as fights, gambling, and drug use and endangering their lives and others.
ii. There two main causes of why teenager involved in illegal racing;
• Teenagers are mostly influenced by their friends.
• Parents should spend more time and care about their children.
iii. Solution of illegal racing:
• Tighten the law and increase its enforcement. (heavy penalties, higher fines,
confiscation of motorcycles of riders and spectators)
• Awareness campaigns to prevent illegal racing.
• The school should give a talk to remind the students about how illegal street racing
will affect them and the reputation of the school.
