DLP Math 7 Quarter 1 Week 1 Lesson 1
DLP Math 7 Quarter 1 Week 1 Lesson 1
I. OBJECTIVES:
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
key concepts of sets and the real number system.
B. Performance The learners shall be able to:
Standards formulate challenging situations involving sets and real numbers and solve these in a
variety of strategies.
C. Learning Learning Competency: The learners should be able to…
Competencies and illustrate well-defined sets, subsets, universal sets, null set, cardinality of sets, union and
Objectives intersection of sets and the different of two sets
Competency Code:
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. define a well-defined set;
2. illustrate a well-defined set; and
3. identify the elements of a given set
Module No. 1
II. CONTENT: Lesson No. 1
Topic: Sets
B. Establishing a purpose Ask the students to look at the objects below and answer the ff. questions:
for the lesson/
Motivation/ Motive
Questions
a. Which objects belong together?
b. How many numbers/elements are there in
each set?
c. Is there an object that belongs to more than
one group? Which one?
A set can be named using capital letters like A, B, C, D,…Z and we use braces { } to group the
elements of set separated by commas.
If a set contains many elements, we often use three dots, …, called ellipsis.
*Remember: In listing the elements of the set, each distinct element is listed once and the order
of the element does not matter.
* The sets given above are not well-defined since people will have different point of views on
famous dancers, punctual students and honest people.
D. Discussing new State whether each of the following sets is well-defined or not. Write your answer in the space
concepts and practicing provided before the number.
new skills #1 _____________________ 1. The set of young politicians.
_____________________ 2. The set of types of matter.
_____________________ 3. The set of versatile actress.
_____________________ 4. The set of all oceans of the earth.
_____________________ 5. The set of months containing 31 days.
_____________________ 6. The set of tasty food.
_____________________ 7. The set of planets in our solar system.
_____________________ 8. The set of durable bags.
_____________________ 9. The set of consonants in the English Alphabet
_____________________ 10. The set of even counting numbers.
E. Discussing new Is the given set well-defined? Justify your answer.
concepts and practicing 1. {subjects in Grade 7 } Yes/No because __________________
new skills #2 2. { popular actors } Yes/No because __________________
F. Developing mastery Complete the table by determining whether the given set is well-defined or not well-defined. If
(leads to Formative well-defined, give 5 elements.
Assessment 3) Not Well-
Well-Defined Elements
Defined
1.A = { schooldays }
2.B = { baldmen with braided hair}
3.C = {wholenumbers less than five }
4.D = {vowels in the alphabet }
5.E = { pretty girls}
G. Finding practical Give 3 examples of well-defined sets in real life situations. Write your answers on the spaces
applications of concepts provided.
and skills in daily living
H. Making generalizations - What is a well-defined set?
and abstractions about - What are the parts of a well-defined set?

J. Additional activities for
application or
remediation
V. REMARKS:
VI. REFLECTION:
No. of learners who earned
80% of the evaluation
No. of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation who scored
below 80%
Did remedial lessons work?
No. of learners who have
caught up with the lesson
No. of learners who continue
to require remediation
Which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why
did these worked?
What difficulties did I
encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me
solve?
What innovation or localized
