Event: Finance
The Great Depression

Number of Participants: 5 teams of 3 participants each

Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
Venue: To be decided/classroom
Technical requirement by the participant - Charged laptop, calculator, Microsoft Word for
elaborate workings.

General Instructions:

❖ All tasks are mandatory except when told otherwise

❖ Please ensure that there is no communication with other teams that relates to the
subject matter of the event.
❖ The participants are required to wear formal attire for the entire duration of the
events.
❖ The rounds of each event will be disclosed as and when they are conducted.
❖ In case of any issues pertaining to the event or delay with reporting to the meeting,
contact your team’s HR Associates and ensure that the event heads are informed.
❖ In case of any disputes or discrepancies, the decision of the judge/event head from
the Organizing Committee of Conoscenza 2022 shall be binding on all participants.

Task Overview/Round Description:

Part 1: Introduction to the event

The first 15 mins are going to be utilized to introduce the event structure and layout to the
participants.
The event requires the participants to calculate the maximum revenue attainable by the
specific OTT platform allotted to them, for a period of 6 months following the constraints
laid out by the organizing team.

Each team will be allocated a total of Rs. 80 lakhs every day to host the relevant genres.

All teams will be given a Venn Diagram and the total population size. Participating teams
are required to solve the mathematical Venn diagram and calculate the total population
that is relevant to their OTT platform. Each OTT platform has a certain market share that
must be kept in mind while calculating the relevant market structure.

Total Population Size – 5,00,00,000

Market Share of each OTT – Specified in the table below

Subscription costs to calculate the relevant revenue flowing in (Subscription Costs are for
6 months)
Venn Diagram

On finding the relevant population each participating team will have to work the best
combination of genres they can run in a period of 24 hours to maximize their revenue,
which depends on the ratings of these genres provided below by the organizing team.
Ratings indicate the preference of the OTT users, genres rated at 1 are most enjoyed while
those rated at 5 are least enjoyed. Participants are required to match the solution from the
Venn Diagram to the target population with respect to the following constraint - Majority
of the relevant population should be satisfied with the subscription to continue
paying the subscription fees.
Each genre must run for a minimum of two hours and the maximum value depends on the
constraints provided in the table. You have a total of 24 hours to optimize.

Part 2: Solving the Numerical

Participants will be allocated 1 hour 30 mins to solve the above numerical that will be judged
according to the solutions prepared by the organizing team.

Part 3: Preparing a report

Participants are required to prepare a thorough report stating the methods followed to solve the
numerical.

1. Introductory Pages
2. Working to solve venn diagram
3. Working to solving consumers that prefer a genre
4. Working to calculate relevant revenue flowing in
5. Working to calculate optimum structure
6. Costs for one day
7. Costs for 6 months
8. Profit made in the 6 months
Duration of the event- 1 hour 30 minutes.

Note: Participants shall stay within reach during the entire event.
