Course Description

This course deals with the application of geologic principles to mining engineering. It also deals with the study of the Ear th’s geological processes, structures, and
formations and stratifications and their relations to rock masses and engineering structures.

Course Learning Outcomes

CL01. Know and understand the different geological principles


CL02. Appreciate the importance of studying the geological principle course.
CL03. Know and understand how to apply geologic principles to mining engineering.
CL04. Understand the different geological processes and the various structural features.
CL05. Relate the study on the current events (local and international).

Grading System

MA = 65% Formative Assessment 1 + 5% Attendance + 30% Summative Assessment 1

where:
MA= Midterm Average
Formative Assessment 1 = Quizzes & activities before midterm exam
Summative Assessment 1 = Midterm exam

FA = 40% MA + 37% Formative Assessment 2 + 5% Attendance + 18% Summative Assessment 2

where:
FA= Final Average
Formative Assessment 2 = Quizzes & activities after midterm exam
Summative Assessment 2 = Final exam

Passing Rate:60%
