The Megalodon Shark Extinction

Thesis
Megalodon is a shark species that is thought to have become extinct three million years ago,
Megalodon is estimated to have lived around 23 to 2.6 million years ago during the Miocene. Previously
this shark belonged to the family Lamnidae, which implies that this shark is closely related to the white
shark (Carcharodon Carcharias). In this day and age we know that the Megalodon shark is extinct, but
many people say that the Megalodon shark is not yet extinct. A study studying fossilized sea creatures
found a tooth which, when traced again, turned out to belong to the Megalodon shark, which is thought
to have become extinct three million years ago.

Argument
Factors supporting the extinction of the Megalodon shark, such as the struggle for food between marine
carnivores which can kill the Megalodon shark species little by little. From what we know, the
Megalodon shark is at the top of the food chain, even though it's at the top, the Megalodon shark can
still die. Usually large animals such as Megalodon sharks are feared by other species in the sea and on
land. The Megalodon shark also ruled the seas until it became extinct about 2.6 million years ago.
Megalodon wasn't only the biggest shark in the world, it was one of the biggest fish that ever lived.
Estimates suggest the megalodon shark was between 15 and 18 meters long and had teeth that were
18cm long, three times the size of the largest recorded white shark.
During its life, the megalodon shark hunted in the warm, shallow seas, which cover most of the Earth.
Megalodon may have become extinct when these oceans dried up, which is when the ice ages started
and the air was locked at the poles, according to Discovery. Then, megalodon sharks may have starved
or frozen and eventually become extinct. The megalodon fossils were found off the coast of Denmark
and in the southernmost part of New Zealand.
Many people are still being killed, this one living creature will become extinct. 95% of the oceans have
not been explored and it still creates confusion about the living things in the oceans. From that 95%
there is a possibility that Megalodon sharks are still alive and still control some of the seas they live in.
There are still many other living things that are still being questioned whether they have become extinct
or not. There is also much that we do not know about other species that live in the deep ocean depths.

Reaffirmation
The extinction of the Megalodon shark was protected by the discovery of fossilized teeth and several
skeletons that have been found. Most of the fossils suggest the extinction of the Megalodon shark around
2.6 million years ago. Now people don't find the Megalodon species anymore, because now the largest
species of shark is currently between the two white sharks with a length of approximately 6 meters and
weighing more than 2 tons when adults. Many studies also state that Megalodon is extinct, but humans
are still exploring 5% of the oceans.
