MEMBRANE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION

1.Cell Membrane

membrane that surrounds every living cell, separating it from its surroundings

the surroundings A cell wall is found in bacterial and plant cells attached to the plasma membrane on its
outside surface.

The cell's constituents are often enclosed by this cell membrane.

Proteins, which are large, water-soluble, and highly charged molecules,

nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and substances involved in cellular metabolism

metabolism. Outside the cell, in the surrounding water-based environment

The environment contains ions, acids, and alkalis that are toxic to the cell.

as well as nutrients that the cell requires in order to live and grow

As a result, the cell membrane serves two functions: first, it serves as a barrier.

keeping the cell's constituents in and unwanted substances out.

2.Cell Transport
It is a transport of materials through cell membrane. There are two types of transport; the passive
transport and active transport.

In passive transport, it doesn't need energy to let in or out the molecules. Therefore it move with flow
because it move from high concentration to low concentration. While in active transport it needs energy
because it will go against its flow.

3. The role of ATP in cell transport is helping the molecules to go against its flow. It serve as the energy
to make the molecules pass out of the cell and it is when active transport occur.
