English text of the present continuous: The aviation

mechanic, taken from the book by Santiago Fernandez
On December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright made the first
successful flight in history with an airplane powered by an engine. The
Wright brothers, who originally built bicycles, designed and built their
plane, the engine being designed and manufactured by Charles Taylor, an
employee of the Wrights. In the early years of aviation, most aircraft
designers did the same job as the Wrights, though they increasingly hired
more people to help them.

Although due to the fragility of early aircraft it was often necessary for
pilots to have a good working knowledge of how to repair and maintain
their machines. In later years, a major path to becoming a pilot was to start
out as an aircraft mechanic.

As the aviation industry has grown, the various tasks of designing,

building, operating and repairing aircraft have become more specialized.

The year 1926 is the year of the great flights of the Spanish Aviation and
aviation mechanics took part in all of them, both in flight and on the
ground. On January 22 of that year, Spain entered the world of large flights
with the first of them. The "Plus Ultra" piloted by Commander Ramón
Franco accompanied by Captain Julio Ruiz de Alda, Lieutenant Juan
Manuel Durán and mechanical soldier Pablo Rada, crosses the South
Atlantic.
