 WHAT ARE EXTREME WEATHER
CONDITIONS?

Extreme weather conditions can

include hazardous conditions
caused by thunderstorms, including
high winds, tornadoes, hail, floods
and flash floods, and winter storms
associated with freezing rain, sleet,
snow, and strong winds.
 EXAMPLES OF EXTREME WEATHER
Tornado: clouds, strong wind, rain, hail

Hurricane or cyclone: strong wind, heavyrain

Blizzard: heavy snow, ice, cold temperaturas

Floods: heavy rain

Dust storm: high winds, arid conditions

Ice storm: freezing rain

Drought

Forest fire

TORNADO
Tornadoes are violently rotating
columns of air that extend from a
thunderstorm to the ground. Tornadoes
can destroy buildings, flip cars, and
create deadly wind-blown debris.
HURRICANE OR CYCLONE
They are the most violent atmospheric
phenomena of our nature. They are a
natural process of the planet Earth to
transport excess energy from the
tropical area to the colder regions.
 BLIZZARD
A blizzard or snowstorm is a long-lasting storm
with very strong winds and heavy snowfall,
arising from the collision between two air masses
with different temperatures and humidity levels.
They usually form when a cold, dry air mass
moves and interacts with a warm, moist air mass. .
Three things are needed to have a blizzard: cold
air at the surface, lots of moisture, and warm air
rising above the cold air.
FLOODS
Pluvial floods They are a consequence of
precipitation, they occur when the ground has
become saturated and excess rainwater begins
to accumulate, and may remain for hours or
days, until it evaporates and the ground
recovers its infiltration capacity.

DUST STORM
They are a Mesoscale meteorological
phenomenon (one to hundreds of
kilometers) that are characterized by
intense winds, which are usually
accompanied by air masses with dry
characteristics that cross arid areas.
ICE STORM
An ice storm is a winter weather phenomenon
caused by significant accumulations of freezing
rain on exposed surfaces: buildings, houses, cars,
trees, roads, etc. Freezing rain occurs when
precipitation that falls as snow meets a layer of
warm air, melts, and continues to fall as rain
through a thin layer of freezing air before coming
into contact with the ground. structures and other
objects and freeze on contact, creating a "glaze" of
ice on all surfaces.
 DROUGHT
It is a transitory climatological anomaly in
which the availability of water is below
what is usual for a geographical area. The
water is not enough to supply the needs of
the plants, animals and humans that live in
that place.
FOREST FIRE
A forest fire is the fire that spreads
without planning, without management
and without control in forest or wild land,
affecting vegetable fuels, flora and fauna.
