SCENE 1: EXT. JACK’S HOUSE. NIGHT
(Ben, Jack)

BEN drives to JACK’S house

SFX THUNDER/RAIN, CAR PULLING UP,

CAR DOOR OPENING/CLOSING, WALK/RUNNING,
KNOCKING ON DOOR, DOOR OPENING

JACK: (Confused but enthusiastic)

Hey man what you doing here?
Never mind, come in.

SFX WALKING, DOOR CLOSING

INT. JACK’S HOUSE. NIGHT

JACK: Crazy day, right? It hasn’t been like this

since, well ever. Unless of course we are
talking about our town’s scariest day,
you know, the one myth with that psycho family
that killed all but one child in their house.
Oh come on you know, the story our parents
told us when we were young. No? Oh stupid me I
forgot you just moved here, I tend to forget
sometimes. Never mind, you want a snack or
something? I’ve got some amazing cookies my
mum made this morning, here try some!

BEN: Oh, I’m good thanks.

JACK: Right your loss. So how are things?

I feel like I haven’t heard much from
you since your mother died, you good?
What brings you here this fine evening?

BEN: Oh nothing, just haven’t seen you in a bit so

I thought I should pop in.

JACK: On a night like this? Bit weird, ok well, you

want to talk?

BEN: Yeah that’ll be great.

JACK: Hey, I-I'm sorry about everything.

BEN: It’s not your fault, but thanks though.

JACK: What do you want to talk about?

BEN: I don’t know, I've, I've just been thinking

about that day. How I, how I could have done
more to stop her. She seemed so happy, you
know, starting a new chapter in our lives
in this new town, I just don’t understand.

JACK: Hey! It’s ok.

BEN: (Interrupts and gets upset)

But it’s not though is it!

JACK: Look do you want to chat or just get

cross with me?

BEN: I’m sorry. I’m-I'm just a bit stressed out

lately.

JACK: Yeah tell me about it.

BEN: I just don’t believe she killed herself Jack!

Someone must have murdered her.

JACK: Hey you don’t seriously think that do you?

Look, you never know what’s going on in
someone's head. You got to understand that.

BEN: I know, but it’s just not like her.

She would never just kill herself.

JACK: Hey le-let's talk about something else shall

we?

BEN: No! It's all I can think about right now. I

wanna go.

JACK: Go where?

BEN: T-to the abandoned house she died in.

JACK: What?!

BEN: Maybe there are some clues to how she died. I
know she didn’t do it, I just know.

JACK: Ok I think you just need to rethink things. I

mean that’s a crazy idea Ben and besides don’t
you think that will make things worse. You’ll
end up destroying yourself.

BEN: No, I need to go. Bye JACK.

JACK: Hey where you going?

BEN: To find out how my mum died!

JACK: Hey wait! If you’re going to the abandoned

house, I’ll go with you, but only if we go
tomorrow, it’s too wet and rainy. Come on Ben.

BEN: Fine, we’ll go tomorrow. Hey actually, do you

mind if I stay at yours, I-I'll sleep on the
floor.

JACK: No need, take the sofa, I'll see you in the

morning, ok.

BEN: Ok, thanks.

SFX RUSTILING OF BLANKETS

JACK: (Softly spoken)

No problem, and don’t worry. Good night.

BEN: (Whispers)
Night.

SFX MUSIC, THUNDER

SCENE 2: INT. JACK’S HOUSE. DAY.

(Ben, Jack)

SFX BIRDS

JACK: Morning. BEN? BEN? Hello?

BEN: Let’s go!

JACK: Morning to you too.

BEN: Last night you said you were coming to stake
out the abandoned house with me this morning.
So you in or out, ‘cause I'm going.

JACK: (In frustration)

Oh fine! Just give me a sec!

SFX PUTTING ON BOOTS, DOOR OPENING.

EXT. JACK’S HOUSE. DAY.

SFX DOOR CLOSEING, BIRDS, WALKING.

JACK: Do you really think this is a good idea?

BEN: Yes! Now come on!

JACK: Ah!

SFX WALKING

SCENE 3: EXT. THE OLD MANOR. DAY.

SFX DRAMATIC MUSIC, BIRDS.

BEN: Here it is.

JACK: Yep, here it is alright. Hey look man, w-we

really shouldn't be doing this.

BEN: You said you were joining me, right?

JACK: Just be quick, we don’t want to be here too

long, people may suspect we’re up to no good.
Like we’re involved in this or something.

BEN: We are involved in this, follow me.

SFX GATE OPENING

BEN: Come, this way!

SFX Walking

JACK: Hey maybe we can get in that way.

BEN: Pass me that brick!

JACK: What this?

BEN: (In frustration) Yes!

SFX GLASS SHATTERING

JACK: Hey you can’t just do that!

BEN: What do you mean? Why do you care?

JACK: Nothing, let’s just go.

SFX GLASS PIECES, WALKING, MUSIC

NARRATOR: The old manor was not just some old house, no.
It was known by the town’s people as devil’s
manor - devil referring to myth of the place
where the family that owned it at the time
murdered their next-door neighbours. I know
quite the odd bunch. Anyway, sadly only
one person from the neighbour’s family escaped
that day. JULIA, the family’s youngest
daughter. Apparently, she slipped through a
secret door and ran out the back but no one
knows what happened to her, poor girl.

INT. DEVIL’S MANOR. DAY

SFX MUSIC

NARRATOR: BEN AND JACK spend hours searching, searching

for some sort of clue that will help them in
their investigation.

SFX LOUD BANG

JACK: BEN?

BEN: JACK?

JACK: You might wanna come and see this.

BEN: What?

JACK: I think I've found something!

BEN: Coming! Oh my goodness.

JACK: I never thought I’d say this but, you were

right.

BEN: (Flabbergasted) How comes the police didn’t see
any of this?!

JACK: I don’t know.

BEN: (Scared) How did you get this door open? Oh my!
There are so many bodies! How?!

JACK: I don’t know, I just saw a gap in the floor, I

went to explore it and then-

BEN: (Curiosity interrupts) And then you found

this.

JACK: What do we do?! I can believe this is happening

right now! Your mother, now this! At least she
was in bed when she died, not just left on the
floor!

BEN: (Curious) Hey, JACK?

JACK: Yeah.

BEN: How did you know she was in bed, the police
never revealed that, and I for sure didn’t tell
you.

JACK: Lucky gue— What the heck?!

BEN: What?!

SFX MUSIC

JACK: T–that’s the window we came in from right?!

BEN: Er yeah, you losing your mind or something?

JACK: I–it’s fixed.

BEN: What do you mean it’s fixed?!

JACK: (Shocked) It’s back together.

BEN: Ah Let me see!

SFX BODY PUSH

BEN: AH! JACK? JACK?

JACK: Goodbye BEN! Say hi to JULIA for me!

BEN: AHHHHHH!
