Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American
literature and other text types serve as means of connecting to the world; also how to use
ways of analyzing one-act play different forms of verbal for him/her to skillfully perform in a
one-act play.
Performance Standard: The learner skillfully performs in one-act play through utilizing
effective verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria:
Focus, Voice, Delivery, and Dramatic Conventions.
Learning Competency: Determine the key message conveyed in the material viewed.

Learning Area: Viewing Comprehension

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the learners will be able to;
a. Identify the moral of the story,
b. Determine the key message conveyed in the material
viewed through dramatization, and;
c. Appreciate the moral of the story through making a self
reflection.

II. Subject matter

3. Motivation

“CRISSCROSS”

 The teacher will divide the class into (2) two groups.
 Each group will give their own descriptive words in
each letter of the word Y-O-U-T-H, that describe the
Youth in present time.
 Each group will choose (1) representative to present
their output.

4. Lesson Presentation

Title: “Footnote to Youth” by: Jose Garcia Villa

a. Pre-viewing: The teacher will present the background


of the author.
 Jose Garcia Villa
 Born on August 5, 1998 and died on February
7,1997.
 He was a Filipino poet, literary critic, short story
writer, and painter.
 He was awarded the National Artist of the
Philippines title for literature in 1973, as well as
the Guggenheim Fellowship in creative writing
by Conrad Aiken.
b. During viewing:
 The teacher will provide a video clip of the story.
c. Post- viewing: To evaluate their understanding of the
short story, the learners will answer the following
questions;
 What was the short story all about?
 Who are the characters in the story?
 What made Dodong feel that he was no longer
a boy but already a man?
 How did Teang find married life?
 What is the key message that is conveyed in
the story?
A. Activity
“DRAMA TIME”

 The teacher will divide the class into (2) two groups.
 The teacher will instruct the students to select their favorite part of story where they
think it is the important part of the story.
 The group will dramatize the message conveyed in the scene they selected.
 Each group will only have (5) five minutes to finish the activity.
 The groups will be graded according to the criteria.

Cooperation 5pts
Total 30pts

B. Analysis
 In your chosen scene of the story, have you experienced this kind of situation in real
life?
 How did that situation change your perspective in life?
 Is the message of the story worthwhile? Why?

C. Abstraction
 The teacher will ask the following questions:
 What is the moral conveyed in the story?
 Does the story develop your good decision making? In what way?
 What do you think is the purpose of the author in writing the story?

D. Application
“ WHAT WILL BE?”

 In the same group, select a leader to lead the activity.


 Assuming that the story we read was not yet done and what your going to do is to
relate it in real life situation and predict your own ending of the story, considering the
question; If you where Bias father would you let him married in his young age?
 Talk to your group and formulate thoughts and have your leader who will speak in
front.
 You will be given 5 minutes to compose and 3 minutes to present your outputs.
 The students will be graded by the following criteria:

Delivery 20 pts.
Content 15 pts.
Creativity 10 pts.
Teamwork 5 pts.
Total 50 pts
IV. Evaluation
Direction: In a ½ sheet of paper make a self reflection about the story, how does the moral
of the story affects you as a youth?

Direction: Answer the question in a ½ sheet of paper.
1. What are your priorities in life as a student? List down at least five priorities.
