Important notice for verified weighing instruments in EU-countries

M M Weighing Instruments verified at the place of manufacture bear the preceding mark on the packing
label and a green “M” sticker on the descriptive plate. They may be set to work immediately.

Weighing Instruments which are verified in two steps have no green “M” on the descriptive plate and

M M bear the preceding identification mark on the packing label. The second step of the verification must
be carried out by the approved Mettler-Toledo service or by the W&M authorities. Please contact
your Mettler-Toledo organization.

The first step of the verification has been carried out at the manufacturing plant. It comprises all tests according to EN 45501-8.2.2.
If national regulations in individual countries limit the period of validity of the certification, the operator of such a scale is himself
responsible for its timely re-certification.

protection. The socket-
socket-outlet should be installed
near the equipment and shall be easily accessible. Built-
Built-in
equipment is regarded as installation location.

LOCATION
The first step in installing the IND205 weighing terminal is to select the best
location.
Placing the IND205 weighing terminal in an appropriate location will enhance its
longevity and operation. Keep in mind the following when choosing a location for
the IND205 weighing terminal:
• The IND205 weighing terminal can be operated between a temperature range
of 14°F to 104 °F (-10°C to 40 °C) at 10% to 95% humidity, no condensing.
• The storage temperature range is from -40°F to 140 °F (-40°C to 60 °C) at
10% to 95% humidity, no condensing.

POWER REQUIREMENT
The IND205 weighing terminal is provided with a universal power adapter supply
which operates from 100-240V AC. The power adapter operates with a line
frequency of 50-60Hz. Power consumption is 6 Watts maximum.

Disconnect the power cord to the operator panel. Make the appropriate load cell connection to the Main PCB for load cells.
TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE PCB OR LOAD CELL,
CELL, REMOVE POWER FROM THE OPERATOR PANEL
TERMINAL AND WAIT AT LEAST 30 SECONDS BEFORE CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING ANY
HARNESS.
HARNESS
The maximum cable length for analog load cell connections to the operator panel depends on the total scale resistance
(TSR) of the scale base. To calculate TSR:
TSR = Load Cell Input
Input Resistance (Ohms) / Number of Load Cells
This chart gives recommended cable lengths based on TSR and cable gauge.
The operator panel can power up to four 350 Ohms analog load cells.
Recommended Maximum Cable Length
TSR 24 Gauge 20 Gauge 16 Gauge
(Ohms) (feet) (feet) (feet)
350 800 2000 4000
87 200 600 1000
58 120 350 600
Once the length of the cable is determined, connect to load cell interface of the operator panel main PCB. The pinout for
this interface is labeled on the bottom of the terminal. The following diagrams describe the operator panel analog loadcell
terminal strip wiring for standard 6-wire cable, Masstron 6-wire cable, and standard 4-wire cable.

If an increase in load results in a decrease in weight display, reverse the signal wires.

Serial port connections

The operator panel provides an RS-232 port as standard. This port may be used to send data to a
computer, printer, or other serial device. The Figure 1-1 also describes the pin configuration of the
RS232 port (J5) on the side of the I/O port (J2).The maximum recommended cable length for RS-232
communications is 50 feet (15.24 meters).

If the jumpers of “W2” and “W3” are set as W2 W3 , the serial port out be at
RS-232 type, the pin of “T232/485+” is assigned as TXD, the pin of “R232/485-“is assigned as RXD.

If the jumpers of “W2” and “W3” are set as W2 W3 , the serial port will be at
RS485 type, the pin of “T232/485+” is assigned as 485+, the pin of “R232/485-“is assigned as
485- .

The communication protocol of RS232 or RS485 is: 9600 Baud Rate, 8 Data Bits, 1 Stop Bit and
None Parity bit.
The default of “W2”
W2” and “W3”
W3” is set at RS-
RS-232 type by Mettler Toledo factory.

Setup jumper for

for W&M sealing
The Jumper of “W1” is used for W&M sealing, if the “W1’ is jumped on, the operator may get into the
calibration page for scale calibration via keyboard, otherwise, the operator cannot get into the
calibration page. For protecting the calibration
calibration data, it suggests keeping the “W1”
W1” jumper off.

WEIGHTS&MEASURES SEALING METHOD

SEALING OF OPERATOR PANEL
After setup is complete, most legal-for-trade applications require sealing the enclosure so
modifications cannot be made. If the terminal is not used for legal-for-trade applications, skip this
section. Make sure W1 (calibration access) is OFF before sealing the enclosure.
Screw (4) through-hole sealing screws into the holes on the rear cover of the terminal, tighten the
screws and run a wire seal through the holes in the screw heads. Then apply the seal lead.
Two paper seal is allowed to stick on the edge of the rear cover for weights and measures sealing.
